Well, THIS sure isn’t going to help!
One of the reasons many prosecutors’ offices are lukewarm toward death penalty cases is the cost. If you have a small [population] county, you may not be able to afford a Capital case. They can run as high [or much higher with appeals] as 4 million a pop. Add in retrials [if needed], and you can wipe out significant portions of a county’s budget for say road construction/repair, snow removal, education, etc. So they cost you millions both ways. And the average Death Row inmate stays on Death Row something like an average of thirteen years. So that’s a double dip on costs.
Ahhhhh, I didn’t know that. Yea that’d be a huge waste of time and money.
He has to serve 25 years before he becomes eligible for parole-- not exactly a slap on the wrist.
Oh, and he was probably Jewish, right?
