Oklahoma Woman's Body, Head Found in Home

Published: February 15, 2011

TULSA (AP) — Tulsa police say they don't suspect foul play in the death of a woman whose headless body was found in a home.

Officer Jason Willingham says officers received a call Monday afternoon to check on the welfare of a person at a residence on east 21 Street. Willingham says officers and firefighters forced their way into the home and found the woman.

Willingham says the victim, 55-year-old Janice Weisman, may have been dead since Christmas.

He says there also were several animals inside the home, and investigators believe they had begun eating the victim. He says her decomposing body was in one area and the head in another.

Willingham says officers believe Weisman died of natural causes, but they're awaiting results of an autopsy from the Medical Examiner's office.

That seems odd. Perhaps the animals chewed the head off and brought it to another part of the house.

They don’t suspect foul play but they did find a foul odor.

If you live alone and have pets, you’d better hope your body is found within 24-48 hours...or you will be Dog Chow.

I figure my dogs would go a day or two before they bite the hand that fed them. And then they would chew on it.

I think most of the animals I've owned would give me at least more than a day. But I've got a dog now that is soooo focused on food, I get nervous taking a long nap.

He would do back-flip when I get out the food bowl, just because he is that excited. But he is too fat to get off the ground. So he just jumps up with his front feet getting a foot off the ground.

Perhaps it is merely an innocent matter of ‘honor’ killing.

you mean to tell me since December 25 2010 and it now being Feb 15, 2011, no one bothered to check on the woman - mail in the mail box piled up, newspapers piling up. snow piling up, electric bill, gas bill and no neighbors saw her outside, walking the dogs. Something does not smell right here, and I do not just mean the decomposing body. The dogs had to eat though!

Heck I was gone from Jan 9 - feb 11, my mail was on hold, and several neighbors called my house and even called my mother’s house to find out where I was. I let 1 neighbor know where I was, but the others were worried because I did not help them out with snow removal. they could not even shovel the snow for me when I was gone. in the hospital for surgery and a rehabilitation center after surgery.

How do they know the lady was removed of her head....and that’s what caused her death?

Reason #583 for why I won’t ever have a pet in the house.
