The move is simultaneous with new owner Comcast starting to show its hand over the broadcast network and cable after receiving FCC approval. "He's been very problematic," an NBCU source told Deadline about Comcast's attitude to Olbermann. Officially, the Comcast takeover is next week. But word has been circulating for months now that the new owners have wanted to "tinker" with MSNBC and had many changes in store, including a right turn for the left-wing cable channel so that it represents both political points of view more evenly.

Sounds like somebody has been looking at FOX's ratings numbers. We'll see I guess.
They should offer Rush Limbaugh the 9:00 pm slot and see how the network takes off.
The authors of this article are IDIOTS.
Replacing Olberdorque with Lawrence O’Donnell is not a move to the right.
O’Donnell is every bit as mean spirited an ideologue as Olberdorque but with a slightly prettier face and ounce more of charm and tact.
There's an NBC University?
There’s no reason to believe Comcast is going “right” when they are run by the Left. I know people would like to believe capitalism would trump partisanship but I’ll believe it when I see it.
I suppose it’s possible they could make asthetic changes though. Such as demanding their employees act like adults?
Nah, NBCU stands for NBC Unhinged.

But, we won’t have ol’ Keith Olberman to kick around anymore. sniff...
Hmmmm....I'll give them a shot. But if I don't see any significant changes, I'm switching to satellite.
I hope msnbcdefg keeps putting lefties on their stations. I want them to have no ratings thus no contributions to leftists
The best we can hope for is that they are "fair and balanced", hah.
I'm not holding my breath.

I don’t connect the O’Donnell move with the potential shift. Every company justifies acquisitions on the basis of some kind of savings or ability to generate growth aka making 1+1=3 in the new combination. Cutting costs like firing the execs a few days ago and now Olbie is one part of that. Another part will be growing viewership to allow MSNBC to generate more ad revenue, and the logical way to do that is to stop pissing off all of the Republican and a good share of the Independent/Libertarian voters who might otherwise watch the channel. But COMCAST won’t even officially take over until next week so it’s going to take a bit longer to get their re-organization completed and implement programming changes.
Whether we can assume they intend to leave Maddow, Schultz, O’Donnell or others in place is just guesswork at this time. Firing Olberman is a very visible sign that will reverberate around the media world and most likely is intended to not only save a big salary but also send a message that more changes will be forthcoming.
As much as some love to try to make this about the content, MSNBC is a business and hopefully the people calling the shots will run it like one now.
Did you read the article about Steve Burke and Brian Roberts?
>There’s an NBC University?
Yes. You can finish your BS in global warming, BA in Elections Manipulation, Major in cemetery tombstone registration and your doctorate in Obamacare.
Olberdorque was probably their most costly talent and most irritating to deal with. I dont believe they will stop being the mouthpiece for the Progressives.
You are right, conservatives should not engage in schadenfreude.
Olberdorque leaving the stage is not a victory, it simply represents a change in tactics. The MSM is controlled by those who discount all that is great in this Free Republic.
His viewer will be upset.
I figured you could get your BS in every subject.
Some of the guys at Comcast are at best Establishment Republican businessmen types....I heard awhile back when rumors of Comcast taking over NBC last year surfaced that there were going to be changes and that they were going to dump some of MSNBC leftward lurchers! It was posted here on FR almost a year ago; it’s all about them losing money with bad ratings and blaming it on the left leaning cable shows
