The authors of this article are IDIOTS.

Replacing Olberdorque with Lawrence O’Donnell is not a move to the right.

O’Donnell is every bit as mean spirited an ideologue as Olberdorque but with a slightly prettier face and ounce more of charm and tact.

“Olberdorque” was probably their most costly talent and most irritating to deal with. I don’t believe they will stop being the mouthpiece for the Progressives.

I don’t connect the O’Donnell move with the potential shift. Every company justifies acquisitions on the basis of some kind of savings or ability to generate growth aka making 1+1=3 in the new combination. Cutting costs like firing the execs a few days ago and now Olbie is one part of that. Another part will be growing viewership to allow MSNBC to generate more ad revenue, and the logical way to do that is to stop pissing off all of the Republican and a good share of the Independent/Libertarian voters who might otherwise watch the channel. But COMCAST won’t even officially take over until next week so it’s going to take a bit longer to get their re-organization completed and implement programming changes.

Whether we can assume they intend to leave Maddow, Schultz, O’Donnell or others in place is just guesswork at this time. Firing Olberman is a very visible sign that will reverberate around the media world and most likely is intended to not only save a big salary but also send a message that more changes will be forthcoming.

As much as some love to try to make this about the content, MSNBC is a business and hopefully the people calling the shots will run it like one now.

I would say he and Ed Schultz both are worse than Olbermann... definitely not a move to the right.

A move from overt hostility to covert hostility. Same hate but with a smile and even more elitism.

Reading the postings on that link were hilarious. Guess Maher happened to have had Maddow on his show tonight and they were really taken aback by it. Well, she at least was. Appears that Maher was snarky and mean as always.
