PETA launches 'Pope condom' ads to avoid unwanted dogs, cats

Pope Benedict's recent comments regarding condom use have some folks and followers confused, but there can be no mistaking the very clear message in PETA's new international campaign:
Visitors to the Vatican yesterday were the first to receive our new "Pope Condom" campaign leaflets, which we'll also soon be taking to cathedrals and churches across the U.S.
Simply stated: It's sinful that millions of dogs and cats are killed every year in animal shelters simply because there aren't enough homes for all of them—and that millions more are abandoned on the streets, where they starve, die of untreated injuries or illnesses, or fall prey to animal abusers. The simple solution is to always spay and neuter animals instead of allowing them to produce countless offspring. Please help us bring salvation to dogs and cats by singing the praises of spaying and neutering to everyone you know.

They’re allowed to print a photo of Pope Benedict with a condom in his hand?

Leave it to PETA for a totally offensive ad. I love the way they go on about all the unwanted dogs/cats killed in shelters. If you've ever got a shelter in dire need of help, don't even bother asking them for help.
From personal experience: I was helping a shelter that was in a very rural area and had no heat. In the winter they wrap it in plastic wrap. I'm not kidding. PETA contacted me to see what they could do. I told them to get here with an emergency semi-truck loaded with a vet, supplies and equipment. You know what she did? She contacted the shelter and complained they weren't killing the pets fast enough!! I had a whole lot to say to her about that. That "relationship" was over before it even began.

PETA,the same lunatic fringe group that compared the slaughter of chickens for food to the Holocaust in one of their ads. Yeah, I’m going to take them seriously! One of the most twisted, pathetic groups around.

When people and intelligent animals can’t stand you, you fall back on supporting animals with brains smaller than a pea. Which is why many of these people are democrats.

All I'd ever heard was negative info about PETA. When she contacted me I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt just in case everything I'd heard was wrong. It wasn't.
Interesting but at the same time I'd talked with someone from the HSUS. After listening to this one for a while I got the impression that they're hand in glove with PETA; some HSUS employees used to work at PETA and visa-versa. In my opinion, both groups have enormous PR/marketing machines and are a huge drain on funds that could go to help local shelters & groups. Oh and regarding the shelter with no heat, I asked HSUS for help. They offered to sell us brochures. Unbelievable.

When will everyone learn to ignore PETA?
They get all the press they could ever hope for with each succeeding outrage. If no one paid attention, they'd stop.

Wasn’t PETA involved in a scandal a few years ago, in which PETA volunteers in the Virginia area were going around picking up people’s unwanted pets, promising to find homes for them, and then killing them (none of them were trained in proper euthanasia methods) and illegally dumping the bodies?

It's sinful that PETA acts all holier than thou, but
murders puppies and kitties, throws their till warm, twitching, bodies into dumpsters, then lies about it...after assuring the people they pick them up from that they are taking them to a no-kill shelter.
OF COURSE it's a no-kill shelter: they kill'em before they arrive!
Then they donate part of the money saved to Earth First!, Sea Shepherds, ALF and ELF.
Hey, Slings; who has the Doggy List?

I absolutely loathe PETA and HSUS. We have two local shelters, and they get all my animal donations of cash, coupons, food, gift certificates, etc. I have never donated to PETA, and haven’t donated to HSUS in 15 years and never will again. They’re just two more leftist front groups like United Way.

The neighbor’s dog once stole and acarfed a package of medical supplies off our carport, since the UPS nitwit frequently didn’t even bother knocking or ringing, just dump and run. He might’ve suffered the same fate, but in with the 2 boxes of gloves he chowed down on were several tubes of monstrously oily skin ointment.
The next several days featured quite a few “well lubricated” dog plops with obvious fingers or wrist cuffs from the gloves.
