Democrats showing they still don't get it - In the House, they endorse a discredited regime.
Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | Nov. 23, 2010 | Matt Mackowiak

Posted on 11/24/2010 1:01:20 PM PST by neverdem

Last week, by a vote of 143-50, Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California was overwhelmingly elected leader of the Democratic minority for the next Congress over token opposition from Rep. Heath Shuler of North Carolina. Democrats also reelected the rest of their House leadership team, even though they had just suffered their worst electoral defeat since 1938.

The vote showed that most Democrats still believe they did nothing to deserve their stunning electoral defeat this month. They blame the economy instead of their policies, and they have apparently convinced themselves that there's no relationship between the two.

While President Obama did inherit a difficult economy, the situation has grown worse in the years since. The recovery has been shallower than expected. We have lost more than seven million jobs since Pelosi became speaker, and more than three million since Obama was sworn in and signed the $787 billion stimulus package.

And yet Democrats this year essentially ran on the slogan "It would have been worse." And of course they got shellacked, leaving the Obama coalition broken into a thousand pieces.

Despite the protestations of Democrats, this election was not a mandate for bipartisanship. (Isn't it funny how the losers always want bipartisanship?) The electorate chose divided government not to increase cooperation between the parties, but to increase gridlock. It's not "What is the government doing for me?"; it's "What is the government doing to me?"

In politics, you're on borrowed time as soon as you stop listening to the voters. After huge losses in 2006 and 2008, Republicans had to show that they heard the voters and were willing to change. They went on listening tours, held town-hall meetings, and produced a Pledge to America that was directly informed by the voters' input. They also got serious about spending with a self-imposed earmark moratorium, which has now been extended through the entire 112th Congress.

Now Republicans have erased all the Democratic gains of 2006 and 2008, and then some, in a single cycle. So are Democrats listening to the voters and changing in response? Absolutely not. They mouth promises about jobs, reducing the deficit, and cutting earmarks, but there is no action.

Led off a cliff and into a hole by Pelosi, the Democrats have chosen to keep digging. Rank-and-file members tried to postpone leadership elections, and 68 of them voted to do so, but Pelosi maintained her grip on power. She now presides over a caucus that's smaller by at least 61 members and much more liberal. Gone are dozens of conservative and moderate Democrats - many recruited by former Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel - from swing districts in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Indiana, and elsewhere.

Now the question is how Democrats in the Senate will respond. While Majority Leader Harry Reid won reelection in Nevada, he lost six Democratic seats. He also has 23 members facing elections in 2012, and eight to 10 of them can expect very difficult races. Those members will be more likely to work with Republicans and to oppose the Democratic agenda because it's in their interests to do so. And Reid will need at least seven Republican votes to break any filibuster, requiring him to reach more agreements with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky if he wants to get anything passed during the next two years.

Part of the rehabilitation process is admitting you have a problem. Democrats in the House seem to think everything is fine. What about their counterparts in the Senate?

The Democrats are banking on an end to democracy in America. They see Obama succeeding in establishing an authoritarian federal government that answers to, and is accountable to, no one. They’re betting on a future that will be dominated by one party and in which the will of the people will be irrelevant. That is the only way to explain what they’re doing.

...stunning that a MSM paper like the Inquirer would publish such an op-ed piece...even though it was written by an outsider and not one of their own, it signals a change I think...the MSM is raising questions now, and I don’t think that will stop.

“It would have been worse”

Our response is:

“It would have been BETTER had you not passed your healthcare takeover, your bailout GM, your pay back unions, liberals and progressives programs, your payback to eco-nazis spending, your refusal to fix the tax rates during the recession because it would be a good ‘class warfare’ issue for your campaign, you waste of tax dollars, fraud in your agenda and abuse of we the people. YOU put us in debt for YOUR agenda”

They didn’t and still don’t get it; We the People do!

So, they will continue to do the same things, but are expecting a different result?

Wow. They really ARE insane

I think the Democrats are going to be rudely awakened from their wet dream of a totalitarian state as soon as the new Congress is sworn in.

Pelosi’s new mission: Limit Obama deals with GOP

BY JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS Associated Press | Posted: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 2:30 pm

WASHINGTON | Hers was the face on the grainy negative TV ads that helped defeat scores of Democrats. His agenda, re-election chances and legacy are on the line.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, chosen after a messy family feud among Democrats to remain as their leader in the new Congress, and President Barack Obama share a keen interest in repairing their injured party after this month’s staggering losses.

But Pelosi’s mandate is diverging from the president’s at a critical time, with potentially damaging consequences for Obama’s ability to cut deals with Republicans in the new Congress.

Their partnership is strained after an election in which Pelosi and many Democrats feel the White House failed them by muddling the party’s message and being too slow to provide cover for incumbents who cast tough votes for Obama’s marquee initiatives.

Pelosi will lead Democrats “in pulling on the president’s shirttails to make sure that he doesn’t move from center-right to far-right,” said Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Calif., a co-chair of the liberal Progressive Caucus in the House. “We think if he’d done less compromising in the last two years, there’s a good chance we’d have had a jobs bill that would have created real jobs, and then we wouldn’t even be worrying about having lost elections.”

Look at those numbers. The vast majority of those 143 are from heavily rat infested cities. They are the true believers in the hard left agenda.

Many are happy that so many blue dogs, moderates, conservatives, etc. lost. Catering to their needs corrupted their ideological purity. The blue dogs, etc. fell on their swords for the rat agenda, but they campaigned in 2006 & 2008 being prolife, pro Second Amendment and fiscal conservatives to take the Congress in 2006 and expanded their majorities in 2008.

These true believers blamed the blue dogs for not letting the hard left advance their agaenda further. In other words they believe their own BS!

Yes they are, but they don't intend to give up. I have said from the beginning, we have elected a president for life, unless the people wake up. At least they seem to have went to the bathroom, now if they can just stay awake, maybe we can save the Republic.

I feel the same way. It’s as if they are circling their wagons instead of moving to the center. The agenda seems like it’s under pressure to move along before the new congress. I’m afraid that they have done so many underhanded things during these last two years, there is no way for them to do anything else. They seem to be backed into a corner and that’s when they worry me most...

I think the Democrats are going to be rudely awakened from their wet dream of a totalitarian state as soon as the new Congress is sworn in.

I truly hope you are right.
However, I see the opposite as a real possibility.

The fascist progressives would have preferred to win elections to ultimately achieve an American socialist dictatorship. The election of 2010 has shown them that won't happen. They will understand that Obama will not be re-elected and that their dreams of a socialist America will not come via the ballot box. Ironically it's the overwelming Republican victory that may force them to act more quickly over the next 2 years.

Plan B will be to use the threat of terrorism to justify rule by Executive Order to 'preserve the nation'. This will begin in the spring of 2011 or 2012. The population is already beginning to be conditioned to be compliant to it by the TSA-Gestapo 'enhanced security' (naked photography, genital groping searches, $11,000 fines for resistence). Expansion of this policy is already under discussion for travel by train, bus and ferry. Expansion is already beginning to be implemented for government buildings in many locales. The threat of full body cavity searches is their final non-lethal coersion. Who will not submit to a naked photo or physical genital grope to avoid a body cavity search by a leaglly authorized government security officer or an $11,000 fine for failure to comply? All this reinforces the idea that you must submit to the government in whatever they ask.

This process will continue and the sheeple will grumble but comply. They have families to feed and can't be bothered with politics. Until one day a real or manufactured incident or series of incidents will create the opportunity for a radical and faster power grab.

The following is one scenario. Actions 1-14 don't all have to happen. Only one or two or maybe three within a couple of months is all the justification they'll need.
Some may have see this before as I posted it on another thread a couple of days ago titled : The Chinese Plan To Crush American Power In Korea

Is the following likely? Is it possible?
More so now than at any time in American history. Current American leadership is not like you and me. They are ultra radical, Muslim sympathizing, facist socialists. They will use anyone do anything to gain perpetual power that lasts far into the future.

Look for the following near simultaneous events in the Spring.

1- A Chinese preemptive strike on US satellites
2- A Chinese premptive strike on US computer infrastructure.
3- A Chinese preemptive EMP strike on Hawaii.
4- A Chinese preemptive EMP strike on US forces in Japan
5- A crushing Chinese invasion of Taiwan
6- The North Korean invasion of the South
7- A Chinese tidal wave pouring over the North Korean border, rushing to the front lines, which by then will be south of Seoul and sweeping the South Korean forces into the East China Sea within 30 days of the begining of hostilities. The 28,000 Americans there will be dead.
8- Turkey leaving NATO, realigning with the rest of the muslim world and confiscating US nucular weapons there.
9- Not necessarily coordinated with China but seizing the opportunity, a combined ‘muslim world’ attack on Israel led by Turkey, which recently has been holding joint military exercizes with China.
10- A huge Al-Qaeda terrorist attack in the US. In multiple locations and as big as 911.
11- A huge “Tet-like” offensive in both Afganistan and Iraq co-sponsored by Al-Qaeda and Iran with an Iranian invasion of eastern Iraq.
12- The President of the United States calling for United Nations condemnation and declaring the US can no longer be the policeman of the world and ordering home all remaining troops stationed abroad.
13- Home based federal troops become the foundation of his power to exact dictatorial control within America.
14- Military leaders who oppose him will be removed with greater swiftness than Truman removed MacArthur.

Quickly followed by recognition of the opportunity to totally restructure American society. Keep in mind most of the American population will go along with the following, grudgingly at first, as necessary for the protection of the nation from terrorism. The few resisters will be delt with severely and quickly.

15- “Temporary” expansion of the Patriot Act giving the President dictatorial powers to “Protect the people from terrorism”.
16- “Temporarily” setting aside the Constitution for the preservation of the nation.
17- Federalizing all law enforcement agencies and National Guard units to coordinate the fight against the terrorists.
18- Outlawing of opposition speech as aiding and abetting the terrorists.
19- Stationing of Federal troops inside the Supreme Court and the arrest and imprisonment of any terrorist sympathizers who speak against the administration.
20- Stationing of Federal troops inside the Senate and Congressional chambers and the arrest and imprisonment of any terrorist sympathizers who speak against the administration.
21- Stationing of Federal troops inside all media offices and the arrest and imprisonment of any terrorist sympathizers who speak against the administration.
22- Confiscation of the internet as a terrorist tool.
23- Confiscation of all privately held firearms.
24- Outlawing of the right of all assembly. (Political, religious)
25- Paycheck deductions no longer handled by employers but by government bureaucrats who take what the government wants and gives you the rest.
26- Federal anti-terrorism counselors stationed in every public school to gather information on terrorist sympathizing opponents.
27- Federal tracking of citizens through cell phone gps.

These things will happen quickly. Americans will be more concerned about feeding their families in the midst of a depression.

Americans don't realize how much power the presidency had with the power of executive order and the Patriot act. It is the framework, already in place, for authoritarian rule. All that is missing is a leadership commited to and willing to 'go for it' a fascist dictatorship.

President for life Barak Obama.

The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to believe it's a real possibility.

The ‘economy’ that NObama ‘inherited’ was set up for him by the 2 years of the Democrat controlled Congress, which was elected in 2006.

Time to connect ALL the dots, Dems.

Dems controlled the spending starting from that election.

Harry Reid STOLE the election in Nevada. He didn’t win a darn thing. He ordered Harah’s to bus their workers who had voted to get them to the polls. ACORN was involved. SEIU was in charge of ‘maintaining’ the voting machines. Voting problems were evident from the very first of Early Voting. The Democrat ‘Sec of State’ declared there was ‘nothing wrong’.

Voters in Nevada have to change the overall control of Nevada before they can expect anything close to a fair election.
