I heard similar comments from a Dutch missionary whom I met 8 years ago, who had lived in Indonesia for a decade. Indonesians are aware that Europe is abandoning Christianity for secularism. They kept asking him why they should accept Christianity - a religion that white Europeans were themselves rejecting. Does Christianity have a future in Europe, and in the West?

American indians are another spoiled minority. Their own courts and money coming in from casinos. Why want religion?

He also noted that many Indians consider white Christians to be worse than Muslims. He feels that American Indians were treated much worse, than Muslim nations have historically treated their Dhimmi minorities.

Man these people are so stupid that they must be beyond all help. Maybe their wish should be granted. Have them all move to the muslim country of their choice and live as dhimmi. Let them experience first-hand the tolerance that is the defining characteristic of nearly every muslim-run country. I hear it is even more fun when you're not a Jew or a Christian.

I’m 1/8 native american, and I was treated with great hostility by Navajos. Not certain re: rationale, but Blackfoot and Navajos seem very nasty.

Natavist believing Indians would not be treated as Dhimmis. Dhimmi-hood status is reserved for “People of the Book”—Jews and Christians, living under Muslim rule.

Pagans, like Native Americans would be given two choices: Submit, that is, become Muslim, or die.

They wouldn't get the choice to live as second class citizens, pay a tax and keep their own religion.

Did this American Indian acknowlege the bloodthirsty nature of his own ancestors as a contributing factor to their eventual mistreatment at the hands of the US government?

I once read in a N.C. travel brochure, the quote of an old Cherokee Chief, commenting on the bible and white settlers: "It's a good book, if the people would follow what it says".

Indians aren’t the only tribes who feel that way, pretty much every liberal does too.

They should read The Sum of All Fears to see how muslims regard (and treat) an Indian who trusted them.

“He was angered by the fact that the US government had historically forced Indian Children to attend Christian boarding schools, where, he claims, they were taught to hate their culture and accept the white man’s religion.”

Modern myths.

While some of these kind of things did occur, in the “lower 48”, the “forced....to attend” aspects were dominant north of the “lower 48” (Canada) and, while it (”forced,....to”) did occur in some instances in the “lower 48” it was not dominant there.

At the same time, especially in the “lower 48”, the government, particularly the federal government did little or nothing to provide or insure general education for native Americans that did not assimilate themselves on their own, but Christian led organizations did attempt to the fill the gap that the states also did little to fill.

Thus, it is hard to equate the whole process - in the “lower 48” as one that the dominant society as a whole “forced” on the natives. The “Christian” aspect of that was more a matter of opportunity than “force” (which was NOT the case in Canada), because of the large non-governmental element that Christian organizations played in trying to provide what the government did nor provide to the natives, particularly to natives who were not themselves assimilating into the broader population - whether by their own choice not to or by local prejudices against it (which varied across the land).

Didn’t realize you wrote this. So HOW and WHY did the topic of race come up? This is a racist hit piece, IMO.

If they wonder why they might accept Christianity, they may want to first consider the Gospel.

Christianity isn’t simply a faith that treats others nicely.

It’s how God provides for man to have fellowship with God.

No other “comparative religion” provides that access.

This lady, an atheist, thinks that all Muslims should convert to Christianity because Christian are much better.

She has a lot experience with Muslims.

You start a thread against whites and then hide. Your problem isn't against Christianity - it's against whites.

What can white Christians do, to bring an end to this anger and bitterness, that many American Indians seem to harbor?

Christians can't do anything for someone else's racism, anger and bitterness - that's something one brings on themselves. And why haven't you addressed black Christians?

But what can a FReeper do? Tell you to get lost and take your hate with you.

He feels that American Indians were treated much worse...

As a Christian I share his pain. I have a great amount of resentment and unbridled anger towards Italians because of the way the Romans treated my brothers and sisters ~2000 years ago.
