PPP poll: Sarah Palin leads GOP field — among Republicans who say they’ve smoked pot

Who was it, remind me, who was ahead of the curve on this? Who was it who called on her to gently appeal to the legalization crowd weeks before she ended up dropping that mini-bombshell on Napolitano’s show about marijuana laws being overenforced?

C’mon. I have, like, three good ideas a year. Give a man some props.

Among Republicans who say they’ve smoked Marijuana:

Palin 25
Gingrich 22
Huckabee 17
Romney 17
Paul 8

Among Republicans who say they have not smoked Marijuana:

Huckabee 24
Romney 23
Gingrich 21
Palin 21
Paul 3

The sample size was only, er, 83 people, but even so, I’m intrigued to see her so far ahead of Ron Paul, whom you might think would have this particular market cornered. Either her brand as a western libertarian-ish type is stronger than we realized or pot-smoking is so mainstream even among Republicans that there’s no “fringe effect” when polling this particular demographic. When you sample a group of conservatives who’ve smoked weed, you end up with … a group of conservatives, not the pilots of the next “rEVOLution” blimp or whatever. Exit question: Which formerly lefty issue will a majority of the right embrace first, marijuana legalization or gay marriage?

Hey man, we had the pool early this morning. I just checked my FR mail. It was only among a couple of us ping list holders. Honor system. No cheating. No notifying posters about the poll. I thought for sure I had the winner in you. As it happens, nobody won.

Yep, Soros wants the drugs legalized. You’re right about that.

Like Sarah won in 2008.....ROTFLMAO. Many people feel she is the reason McCain lost. I am not saying that but she is far from a winner in 2008....what did she sorta win like being sorta pregnant.

Oh you called me worse names during our last exchange. I guess your forgot but I didn’t. Right out of left field. I was shocked and very disappointed in you. In fact, one FReeper bookmarked the exchange and notifiied me. I don’t know what got into you. Maybe some adult liquids. I’m well aware you dom’t like her and that’s fine by me. A politician who pleases everyone is nobody I want to support.

I have always said that I will vote for her if she gets the nomination. I am not a total idiot. She will do a 100 percent better job than the current occupant in the White House. Why do you think I have changed? Well our country is going to hell. That makes me nervous. Sarah could very well save us but she is doing things that really irritate me. She is endorsing people that we don't accept. She is meeting with people I can't stand (Kate). I know that you are disappointed in me but this election is too important for our presumed candidates to be doing things that do not make her presidential. I know she has not announced yet and she may not, but if she is going to she should be doing everything possible to look presidential. Yes I know that the liberals make her look bad, but again every politician gets that. Vitter is being haunted now because of his discretion many years ago. I just think conservative candidates need to be squeaky clean. Just my opinion. The other thing is why can't people bash Sarah right now? She is not the candidate. If she was the Republican Candidate for President, I would be all over someone who bashed her because we need to win in 2012 but prior to that I don't see why it matters.

I’m a conservative libertarian, have never smoked pot...even though it was readily available...and I prefer Sarah Palin.

Allah is just being the beta that he is. I think she intimidates him. ;o)

“Truthfully, I see Sarah Palin less as a candidate, than a kingmaker.”

That’s how I see her, as well. I love what she’s doing, and how it makes the Ruling Class Republicans squirm.

I think I’m loving being a Country Class person, as defined by Sarah Palin. And, those who defined her and the rest of us as such, can go suck an egg.

“To be a little more accurate -

Not even close...

Thank you, Vast.

I like pissant, personally. He’s one tenacious person, and I admire that.

However...equating Sarah Palin supporters with daily users is ridiculous.

I’ve never been a user, and I doubt that most who support her have used at all.

Well I’m a republican who has smoked marijuana, albeit many, many years ago-all I can say is if Palin, Gingrich, Huckabee, Romney and Paul are my only choices I’ll be picking up the habit again real soon.

I think you’ve you’ve changed because we used to be very good frieds but you took after me for no valid reason a week or so ago and called me a liar, “troble” maker and twit just like Sarah Palin,....lol.. for not reason at all. I was shocked. antceecee bookmarked the post and said so right on the thread. It was a shocker and so out of character for you. I was left wondering what the heck I said to make you turn venomous on me.

I thought you would know by now, that I don’t take it peronsal when my favorite “possible candidate is criticized” ubless the criticiism go into foul language unbefitting a wife and mom of five children, like the “whore” word.

Whose “Kate”?

Satah does get bashed and she gets bashed daily by the over 400 journ0lists and the lame stream media but she comes back standing stronger than ever and she gives it right back to them from her FaceBook Book page, her tweets, her personal appearances on behalf of candidates she’s endorsed, and of course, her interviews on Fox News, where’s she’s employed by Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch. Sarah has been brilliant ever since she broke away fom McCain’s horrid campaign to strike out on her own. No managers, jut Sarah being Sarha and calling her own shots.

I’ll tell you why I like her best. She has no roots in Washington, DC and she’s hostile to the the way our public business is conducted by the good ole boys and the Marxist in power. She no friened of or to the lame stream media and she doesn’t dance to their tune either.

Nobody else calls out the Marxist like Sarah. She’s on his case 24/7 and her FaceBook entires grab the national headlines, despite lame streams best efforts to ignore her.

Sarah owns the national stage national stage. I don’t know whether she plans to run or not. But I will support her no matter what she ultimately determines is the best for her and her precious family.

Well she has the stoners.

You could be right! OTOH, the sentiment for ending strict marijuana prohibition does seem to be growing. Here's how Rasmussen had it as of late July this year:

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Adults nationally shows 43% believe marijuana should be legalized. But 42% think it should remain an illegal drug. Another 15% are not sure.

However, 65% believe it is at least somewhat likely marijuana will be legalized in the United States in the next 10 years. Just 28% do not expect this to happen. Those numbers include 29% who say it is Very Likely pot will be legal in the next 10 years and five percent (5%) who say it is Not At All Likely.

Voters were more divided on this question than they were in May of last year, when asked whether the drug should be legalized and taxed. At that time, 41% favored the idea of legalizing and taxing marijuana, while 49% were opposed.

Seventy-five percent (75%) support medicinal marijuana use, while only 14% say patients should not be allowed to smoke doctor-prescribed pot. Support for medical marijuana is even higher than it was in October, when 63% said it should be allowed.
