Raggio’s comments came amid a growing chorus of state officials saying the reality of Nevada’s looming $3 billion shortfall will necessitate a tax increase.

“I do think we will have to have some infusion of new revenue,” Raggio said today. “But first, we must determine the essential services at the state level.”

Let the government sink!

Let the taxpayers float.

The word “revenue” should be banned when talking about tax increases.

When times are good, government grows with the extra cash
When times are bad, governement grows to meet the needs it committed to previously.

Notice one thing that seems to be common to all times?

No chance of government doing with a little less, huh? That’s too bad.

Yes they are. One of the definitions I have heard of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome.

Raggio is termed out. He will not even be in the next session.

Second the State is facing a 50% reduction in revenues. NO state can cut 50% period end of story.

Right. And when they don’t have a choice?? Erect a fence to keep all current Nevadan’s locked in so they can pay 100% of their income to the gubbmit?
It may not “look” like the same state for a while; but Nevada could do with some healthy cuts; just like PA could use some serious slashing.

Nevada has Harry Reid to thank when their paychecks are reduced. If he’s re-elected, they can walk around Nevada bent over.
