Huh?
(I'm still gonna die?)
Disconcerting to say the least.
Where's it going to collape to?
Is it because there is a glut of oil and this would drive down prices?
I guess we were just lucky the ocean floor had never collapsed before BP drilled the well.
They must have drilled it just in time to prevent all that pressure from reaching apocalyptic porportions.
“This contradicts orders from Admiral Allen to open the well and begin siphoning oil — to avoid a possible pressure-buildup.”
Orders? I don’t get this. Is this guy smarter than all those BP engineers?
The Feds are afraid that the well will have been safely capped and not need to be plugged. If there is integrity of the well and field, why not produce this monster?
It seems all the Prostitute Scientists from universities, who never drilled a well, are acting as “Chicken Little”.
Of course the plan from 1600 Penn. Ave. is to destroy and nationalize the oil companies like all Commies do. He started with Banking, then Auto, now Oil. TRAITORS!
This is a politically difficult situation for BP. Keeping the well closed gives the appearance of “it’s fixed”. Opening and siphoning gives the appearance of BP greed in “gotta get the oil”. Hmm. Of the two options, I say open the well and start siphoning to prevent outlying seepage and potential well ocean floor implosion, but does BP have the logistics in place to capture it? I don’t know.
The gulf states are going to be drenched in oil if it’s the last thing obummer ever does.
Tell the frickin government goons to sit down and be quiet. All they do is take credit for the good, and blame for the bad.
"Sweetie, We Can't Put Them Out Of Business If I Plug It.
Of course I'd have to admit that I have a similar rule in regards to any popular revival of disco music.
Translation: BP has put an end to the “crisis”, but Obama needs the “crisis” to continue so he can shut down the oil industry. Admiral Allen is Obama’s mouthpiece here.
The wellhead is 1 mile below the ocean surface. The Macondo reserves are underneath an additional 2 miles of rock. There are close to 4000 active wells off the US in the gulf.
Why is it that this ONE well might cause an apocalyptic ocean floor collapse??
The well integrity test is ongoing and active monitoring continues. Pressure continues is approx. 6775 psi.

However, in a business week article that suggests Allen did order BP to go back to "containment" (which actually means opening up the well and capturing the oil, I found this nugget:
Thad Allen wants to do containment because they want to find out what the real flow rate was, Don Van Nieuwenhuise, director of Petroleum Geoscience Programs at the University of Houston, said in an interview yesterday. Unless they do something like that, theyll almost never be able to prove what the true flow rate was. That is an interesting speculation. The low pressure measured translates to an oil spill much lower than what government is trying to charge BP for.
So maybe they want collection so they want to say whatever is collected is what was leaking before, to get more money from BP.
It seems government was very dissappointed with the low pressure readings, because they lose money.
I'm still holding another speculative theory -- the liberal ecology group that gets all the money from the collected oil might be putting pressure on the white house to turn containment back on. They were collecting up to 15,000 barrels a day with the Enterprise, which translates to a gross of over a million a day if you assume $70 a barrel.
The Helix is supposed to be able to collect 20,000, so if they hook enterprise back up they could be collecting 35,000 barrels in a few days -- that's almost 3 million dollars a day, a significant if not ALL of that going to an ecology organization. Over the 30 days before the seal, that could be their entire previous budget.
And if they bring ALL the rest of the production online, it could be a lot more.
So, who’s right? Greedy, accident-prone, corrupt BP, or Coast Guard Admiral Allen, who knows nothing whatever about drilling and is advised by a panel of Obamanoid “experts” who know nothing about drilling?
Hmm. I think I’ll flip a coin on this one.
It’s the deaf leading the blind. Or was that the other way around?
Collapse? A volcano doesn't collapse. Who wrote this Shepard Smith, Whorealdo or Rick Sanchez?
And yes we're all gonna die. One day.
What I want to know is when are they going to start moving with the RW again??
methinks The Admiral and his advisors neeed some time off.
