It's called ‘Filibuster’ use it.

Particularly on ALL nominations to the judiciary STARTING with Kagan.

The Liberals MUST be punished.

It is a doomsday scenario that needs reckoning. Tar, feather, and rail futures should be on the rise.

Retiring or defeated members of Congress would then be able to vote for sweeping legislation without any fear of voter retaliation

Are they all planning on leaving the Country after they are swept out of office? If they intend to ruin the lives of their voters before the new Congress is sworn in, I'm sure the voters won't forget who they are just because their names aren't listed in the phone book.

Lame Duck! As a patented noodlerologist my prognosis is Lame Braininess!

The pair should take two aspirations and resign in the mourning!

There are 41 Republicans in the Senate. Democrats can only achieve something in a lame duck if some Republican breaks in the Senate. After the kind of election that is expected, that would take real arrogance, even on the part of the Maine twins.

What we need is a ban on Lame Duck sessions and other activities associated with their office, including junkets and hearings. Every two years the House and Senate could recess between the election and January 20, subject to callback in national emergencies on the order of 9-11.

Think of the money we would save on travel, heating expenses, holiday decorations and parties, franked Christmas/re-election cards, new laws.

Think of the family time these folks would enjoy. How often have politicians decried the need to resign their office to spend more time with the family.

Think of the inability of the Administration and leaders to hold politicians hostage on Christmas Eve to vote for unpopular bills.

Think how green it would be to save on fuel, heating, and lighting.

The only downside would be a deep freeze in Washington DC due to the lack of hot air usually emanating from the Capitol Building.

If the mad-duck Democrats get too obstreperous we can should it impossible for Congress to meet. I am talking about non-violent methods such as sit-ins, lie-ins. or simply having enough people around the Capitol to prevent anyone from entering.

(Actually, it would be kind of cool to use some of the tactics of the civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements to prevent a mad-duck session. Imagine 10,000 people around the Capitol Building chanting “The Whole World is Watching,” or singing “We Shall Overcome.”)

That scenario scares me as well. Thank goodness there are a couple of vacations during that time as well, which will also slow them up.
