Despite the vow by President Obama to keep the Gulf oil spill a top priority until the damage is cleaned up, 50 days after the BP rig exploded, a definitive date and meaningful solution is yet to be determined for the worst oil spill in the U.S. history.
So, you would think if someone is willing to handle the clean-up with equipment and technology not available in the U.S., and finishes the job in shorter time than the current estimate, the U.S. should jump on the offer.
But it turned out to be quite the opposite.....

I’m guessing ...
it’s ANOTHER way to DEMONIZE CAPITALISM, thePRIVATE sector, raise OIL PRICES and have us become MORE DEPENDENT on our enemies for oil and BAN OFF SHORE DRILLING!
I’m just going to take a wild guess, but B.O. is probably not very popular in the Gulf States? Coming election was not going to be good, BEFORE the oil spill...
Not just demonize greedy caps but further damage the “special relationship” with Britain.
They blame it on the Jones act.
Bush waived it during Katrina. This a-hole wants it to get worse so he can “keep his boot on the neck of the Oil Industry”. Another huge blow to our economy, I sure that bothers Barry.
I might add, and line the pockets of his fellow Islambies, more money equals more ability to destroy the hated satan, i.e. the USA
We don't need no stinkin European help.
It’s also a way to punish we wicked Southerners for the original sin of slavery; as well as a means of sticking it to the [largely] Red States in the southeastern US.
It’s all politics. Punish the rednecks for leaving the (D) party...........
And we hope you ‘wicked Southerners’ will return BOs favor by voting unanimously against him in the next election. I cannot imagine that ONE pro-BO person will remain in the Gulf states after this?
“It would appear the U.S. government’s initial refusal to foreign help most likely stemmed from a mis-calculation of the scale and deepwater technological barriers for this unprecedented disaster, and/or perhaps ..... pride.”
Or much more likely because union labor didn’t get a slice of the oily pie. The President personally could haved waived the Jones Act in this case and tripled the number and quality of vessels involved in the oil remediation. He chose not to. My guess is there was nothing in it for his supporters to profit from and like Rahm says “don’t let a crisis go to waste” thought it would help his political agenda and employ lots of Dem lawyers on K Street. That’s my hunch.
And possible try to take over BP, again just guessing.
One of the prettiest sounds on earth is the Muslim call to prayer at sunset.
Barack Hussein Obama as quoted by Nicholas D. Kristof in the New York Times - March 6, 2007
I never understood the Jones Act to preclude a foreign-flag ship from conducting offshore operations in the U.S. or its territorial waters.
Heck -- I don't even know exactly where this BP rig is located. I've never seen a map of where the oil is leaking from in any media coverage, so I'm not sure if U.S. law would apply here anyway.
Because Zero has no interest in solving the problem - he has a perfectly good crisis and he doesn’t want to let it go to waste.
ping-a-ling
When the Jones Act provisions were waived in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the waiver specifically applied only to ships engaged in the transport of oil and natural gas. My guess is that this activity specifically involved the movement of these commodities from offshore drilling locations to U.S. ports.
This is the dirtiest secret of 'em all. Anytime the libs can prevent the USA from drilling on or near its territory, it only strengthens middle eastern oil, because they can continue to be major oil suppliers.
I wouldn't be surprised if middle eastern oil is one of the biggest sponsors to environmentalism. Enviromentalist action here at home (in the form of no drilling, heavily regulated drilling, etc.) only helps the ME oil players.
