LOLOL! I like that story! I have a tortie and a calico/mix right now. Love those cats!

My DH took her 3 calicos and one tortie to the vet at the same time and the vet said something like “Hmmm — what a load of ‘attitude’ we have here!!

Oh gosh, haha...we have one tortie out of the lot and she’s the one who just exudes cattitude.

“cattitude” - good one! That describes our girls perfectly. Our calico is, as usual, sitting on my lap. Unfortunately, when she has to share my lap with my laptop computer, she insists on lying on top of my wrists. Nothing else will do. It makes for more interesting cruising and typing, that’s for sure!

That's exactly how ours tends to get comfy. Anywhere she can bodily block you from doing something, so you HAVE to give her your undivided attention.

I'm a fan of torties too! Got three of them!

The one I raised from a kitten, Friday, is a cinnamon tortie. She's definitely got a streak of piss and vinegar, when she's not being sweet.

One is a tortie-and-white named Mocha. One side of her face is splashed with cream. Longest hair I've ever seen on a cat, and she's apparently part Siamese. She started life as a feral, and she's the friendliest with strangers.

The third one, Artemis, is an older grouchy cat. Loves people, but I didn't know she hated other cats until after I adopted her. She's kind of a smoke tortie (smoke coloring in her ruff. Big kiwi-green eyes. She's kind of a hisser and pisser.

First tortie I ever had was a black tortie kitten, Spooky, I rescued from the alley behind my apartment building where she had been dumped. That cat was the absolute sweetest! Not much piss-and-vinegar in her, except that she would not become an indoor-only cat, which was her nemesis, as she was only a couple of years old when she just ran out one night under the wheels of a car.

Spooky is the reason I just adore torties today. I know there are many beautiful coat patterns in cats, but I am partial to torties. They have a little extra quirkiness.

My half Siamese tortie named Molly was my all time favorite cat. She groomed our son when he was a baby, and slept in his crib with him. My dad freaked about it and thought she'd smother him, but she just mothered him - in her fashion. She lived 18 years, and has been missed for over ten years. Such a sweetie. Each of our kitties has a unique temperament and endearing quirks. Life is much richer for having them in our homes with us.

Funny thing is, our current tortie, Foot-Foot (white paws) has also chosen to sleep on our son's pillow, just as her predecessor did when he was a baby. She is going to be very unhappy when he starts college in another year. I don't know whether she'll move across the hall to join our younger son or just keep vigil in her customary spot. It's one of those times I wish I could explain it to her. Poor dear.

Exactly so. Fortunately, laws are changing to reflect this, a move away from the attitude that animals of no financial value could be harmed without consequence.

Thank you :-) She thinks she's a momma cat, so when we got a pair of 10 week old kittens a few years ago, she immediately decided she must've just misplaced some babies and thank you so much for returning them. Now they're all grown up, but Murloc tolerates it at times, and Inky took it to heart and decided he must be a tiny baby kittty. For life.

Sounds like someone who would beat his wife or kids.

Piece of sh*ts like that never make those type of comments around me.

Agreed. Anyone that can do this to poor, defenseless kittens could do this to defenseless baby as well. I am sick about this, I love my 3 kitties so much...I am just beside myself when I hear stories like this. However, the fact that Alley survived is by the grace of God. If she were nearer to or in Ohio, I’d adopt her in heartbeat!

This is sadly all too common. My wife and her family own a far sized trash collection business. They find dead and dying kittens, and mother cats, in the trash all the time. Two of our four cats come from dumpsters, Kitty (closing in on 14) and Basket, (soon to be 3). Basket in not named after trash baskets, but because she loves baskets of all description. Kitty names just suffers from a lack of imagination on my wife's part.
