Arizona Finds Key to Keeping Out Undesirables

Just over two weeks have passed since Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law the Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act, or SB 1070. It is otherwise known simply as Arizona’s tough new anti-illegal immigration law.

The primary goal of the law is to help law enforcement officials identify and charge foreigners who are in the state of Arizona illegally (otherwise known as illegal immigrants). However, there have been some secondary effects of the law which will also benefit the state of Arizona in a way that should cause other states to emulate its provisions.

In the world of economics, the term ‘externalities’ is used to describe the costs or benefits incurred by parties that did not actually cause those same costs or benefits. Put in layman’s terms, externalities are essentially the side-effects of other processes and they can be either positive or negative. An example of a negative externality would be the pollution caused by a coal-burning power plant.

For Arizonans, the new anti-illegal immigration law has created a positive externality by keeping other undesirables out of their state.

Easy prediction:

Arizona's crime and unemployment rates will be down 25% this time next year.

—it will apparently keep out San Francisco city and county officials, which is almost as good as keeping out illegals—

Here's another easy one:

California's will be up by the same amount next year.

Question is - will they do anything about it?

"by keeping other undesirables"

Wouldn't tea partiers fall into this category from Zer0's viewpoint?

Amazing what happens when you actually ENFORCE the laws -- crime rates DECLINE.

I'm sure this is far too earth-shattering a concept for Liberals to grasp.

0 has handed a golden line to Brewer. That ad is very powerful. Now she only has to run against 0. That narcissism is a real b$tch.

I’m very mad about how Obambi has mocked the decent, hardworking LEGAL citizens of Arizona. I can only imagine how I would feel if I actually lived in Arizona.

I hope Brewer whoops up on 0 but good.

That is far, far better than keeping out illegals.

I think the AZ law is long overdue. So many people are screaming racism that it may not last which kinda scares me for the future. (forget law, don’t upset anyone!)

P.S. If you are inclined to forward things to your email lists, etc., consider forwarding that ad. It needs as wide play as possible!
