Fiorina said abortion rights would not be her litmus test for approving a Supreme Court nominee.
In November, while speaking at an event sponsored by the conservative magazine the American Spectator, Fiorina said she “probably would have voted for” Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination to the court. Sotomayor has said she considers abortion rights to be an issue settled by the court.
On Friday, Fiorina said, “I do not believe where a potential judicial nominee stands on that issue is a qualifier or an unqualifier [sic].”
She added that while “many, many voters are going to conclude while that is a very important issue, it is frankly a decided issue,” she said.
“The law is clear in the state of California, where there is a constitutional guarantee to the right to an abortion. So why are we talking about a theoretical issue?”
Carly Fiorina is a “golden parachute enriched” endowed competing to be the California GOP’s nominee against leftist Democrat Barbara Boxer in November’s general election. She claims to be pro-life. She has been endorsed by such reputedly pro-life groups as Susan B. Anthony’s list and the California Pro-life Council (the California affiliate of National Right to Life as well as Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn. Yet nothing in her public life or statements justifies these supposedly prolife endorsements. Indeed, the publicly available evidence utterly contradicts them. Her supposed prolife stand reminds me of Obama’s infamous birth certificate. Though the available evidence doesn’t justify what we are being told about it, we should accept it as a fact because others claim to have seen what we cannot.

I might, reluctantly, vote for a RINO if there is no other choice but I will actively campaign for a conservative. I think a lot of others, including Tea Party activists, think the same way.
Okay, that is a reasonable view, have no issues with it. In fact I agree in principle with all your points. My only qualification is you can’t win in politics unless you are willing to make a strategic retreat when it is the best and/or only strategy. Win all, lose all is not often an effective strategy.
Thanks for the detailed response. I enjoyed reading your comment.
Trying to determine the actual CA voters here to remind everyone else that the last two REPUBLICAN US SENATORS FROM CALIFORNIA were:
Pete Wilson, who won the governorship
and
John Seymour, who finished Wilson’s term
MANY MOONS AGO.
Maybe we no longer have any need for your vote.
Adult Conservatives are wanted.
That is insightful. I think you are right.
You read an old article. He’s raised about $2 million thus far.
Carly “McCain” Fiorina with all her self-funding trails Campbell. Carly should give up trying to buy her little election trophy.
>She hasnt won a damn thing and wont. Period.>
don’t tell me - you are 4 and using mummy’s laptop
while she gets another beer.
Insults. Figures. You keep showing what kind of character you are.
Guess your plugging for Campbell? Directly or indirectly, same thing. And losers always give up or advise others to do so.
A valid point SoCalPol. Immaturity on political forums should always be called out, even if done in a joking manner.
I wrote the following on another thread to somebody who was defending Carly's so-called record on abortion (so this was directed to that poster, not to you EV)...
"My husband's mother was told to abort him," Fiorina said. "She spent a year in the hospital after his birth. My husband is the joy of her life, and he is the rock of my life. So those experiences have shaped my view.
But we want to know if she's merely paying us lip service to secure the Republican nomination?
Imagine if a slavery abolitionist such as Frederick Douglass during Antebellum America had stated "while that is a very important issue, it is frankly a decided issue."
Or imagine him saying, I do not believe where a potential judicial nominee stands on that issue (of slavery) is a qualifier or an unqualifier.
(the above quotes being Carly's quotes in regard to the abortion issue, modified only to fit the times of Douglass)
It would be ludicrous that an advocate would be so cavalier about the process.
That kind of mere dismissal of the Supreme Court nomination process is part of the problem. You can scoff that something is settled, then the next ruling does something even more atrocious (slavery: Dred Scott ruling; abortion: perhaps the reversal of the partial birth abortion ban)
I would certainly welcome a Constitutional Amendment regarding Personhood of the preborn, as is being attempted in some states right now. In the meantime, this current Supreme Court or the subsequent one once Obama gets his future nominee cleared, can continue to thwart states' attempts.
Those who give a pass to leftist jurors (and it's not just abortion they are wrong on) are not doing us any favors. If Carly's merely quipping it's a "decided issue" or a "theoretical issue," she is not an advocate for the pro-life movement, and the so-called pro-life groups that endorsed her ought to be ashamed.
He may well be. Who knows?
Amen to your post.
Aren’t you anti-abortion? Integrity! Sheesh. Some of you people have no shanme - look at the PROUDLY pro-abortion front runner in the race. You are unethical mercenaries in your war with Keyes (all two of ya!) against Palin.
BTW, the long-winded post above you wrote probably puts lie to the proposition that you are a four year old. But it certainly indicates your mental abilities peaked around that age - everything you wrote there is rubbish.
“with the help of the sit at home and third party crowd”
Many wanted to punish Republicans, and ended up punishing themselves, plus the rest of the country.
Whoa. That’s a very sad statement on the state of conservatism.
These folks are perfectly willing to paint a solid conservative like DeVore as a loser in order to run interference for Sybil’s boneheaded endorsement of Gnarly Diarrhea.
Mental abilities are shown by what words you choose to speak. All you have is ad hominem attacks. You dare not try to explain the alleged fallacies of my carefully thought out words, so you can only resort to insults.
You have shown yourself to be the perfect representation of the Carly Fiorina campaign.
I pity you.
Not that it matters, but you left Schwartzenrenegger off your infamous list of “the only one who can win” presumptions by FReepers who pragmatically give up their cause out of respect for political expediency that turned into regrettable self-fulfilling prophecies that hurt everyone, every time!!!
Carly is running close to neck and neck with Campbell, it is Devore that has remained a consistent 20 points behind, including in the most recent poll.
