Two people I know just e-mailed me that when they went to check the headlines before starting work, "FOXNEWS.COM" had been blocked by the Navy Network administrators, but they could still access CNN and MSNBC. The following message was all that showed up on the screen when they tried to get to FOX News.
"Access to this site has been denied in accordance with Navy policy to safeguard the security posture and/or to maintain the operational integrity of the NMCI."
It’s a fact. I’d report it to Drudge but the NMCI Nazis would probably track my IP address. Somebody outside the firewall please call/email Fox and let them know. NMCI needs to be slammed - why Fox and not CNN/MSNBC etc?
Please tell me this is not true, that someone was mistaken or that it was a momentary/temporary Internet glitch of some type.
Wow. Can’t have the military think for themselves now can we?
Did the people contact their IT department? Part of the blocking message says to contact the network admin if you feel that you have been blocked from a site in error.
I don’t know about the IT people where I currently work, but at my previous post, the IT guys were a bunch of rabid conservatives, even going so far as to pin up pics downloaded from the well-known subversive site, FreeRepublic, in their office.
Sometimes, I am blocked from going to specific links within Fox News; typically, they have a “blog” somewhere in the address.
That would be a local proxy server policy. A local O6 or above can rectify it.
US Navy frees pirates and attacks the First Amendment.
Something wrong with this?
Is this the same Navy that wants to name a ship after buttcrack Murtha?
Can’t let them swabbies be hearing any truth. Just lies from
cnn and msnbc. I must say Fox ain’t much better lately.
It starts with the Navy. They are after all, government employees. Next will be SEIU members at government departments. Next will be you and I. Another sign of government control that needs to be fixed. It starts with the elections in November.
sounds like a local policy issue that can be easily rectified. Must have been some pony-tailed IT contractor getting too cute.
The Fox News website is worthless unless you want to know what celebrities are up to. After you scroll past the top story it is like my kids TMZ TV show she watches.
I have little doubt they have our IPs.
You might as well sign off your posts with with phone number, email and SS number.

Oh, yes, and my mother’s maiden name is Obamasabum.
What many think is a plot is probably a simple algorithm that has flagged Fox News for blocking. It may be close to impossible for the admins to even determine why it was blocked but I doubt highly that they did it on purpose.
Oh and shipboard TV was no gem back in the 80s. News was read from a news wire by a chief Petty Officer, and the most popular program on the TV was reruns of Benny Hill.
welcome to Walt Disney World CNN, MSNBC NO FOX ON PROPERTY, from a company that claims diversity....what a laugh
I agree. Just hate to give them the ammo. :-)
Interesting that it has always been available (minus ads and streaming videos, which none of us miss) until today, though.
