What Should I Do? (Vanity- want opinions

Posted on 03/22/2010 3:37:32 PM PDT by God luvs America

I am looking to my Freeper family for advice. After the events of yesterday and the calls for civil obedience I am really torn what I should do. I and my wife are gainfully employed. I work for myself and often work six to seven days a week. Like just about all of my Freeper family, my wife and I pay our mortgages, taxes and all our bills in time. We paid to pay our student loans on time. We’ve never taken a nickel of government assistance during our adult working lives though we’ve paid into the system from the word go. We live within our means, sacrifice to make ends meet and give to charity when we can and sometimes when we can’t.

Since September I’ve had a series of different medical tests as my dad past away from a stroke last July. These were preventive measures. Our family has always had insurance which we pay a hefty premium for. One set of tests the doctor sent me a bill of $300 which represented my deductible/coinsurance. I promptly paid it.

I received another bill today for a procedure completed last September and the hospital is asking for another $300 on top of the almost $1900 the insurance company paid out.

Usually I would pay this but after the arrogance, corruption, cronyism and kick backs which culminated in yesterday’s vote I am having second thoughts. I am SICK and TIRED of paying for people who over extend themselves and take on obligations they have no way or no intention to payback besides paying for myself and my family. I understand everyone needs a helping hand at some point and don’t mind helping those people or helping the hopeless…I REFUSE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR THE FREELOADERS!!!

I really want to send the bill back to the hospital and tell them that, as someone who pays for his insurance besides paying for entitlement programs I’ve never received a dime from, they can now send this bill to the US Capital, attention Nancy Pelosi, and tell Pelosi to take the $300 they want from me from the funds they use to for the entitlement programs…the ones I have paid for all my life!!!

I am reeeallllly aggravated and don’t want to pay this bill based on the greed and belligerence I saw and heard from the elitists yesterday. Thoughts? Thank You.

Don’t feel alone, I work near the INS building here in SF and look at the pregnant women in line to get handouts.

Pay the bill and don’t risk your credit score.

Obama cheated and got promoted based on his race and political positions, he never paid a price for anything for the results he has gotten. You are the opposite.

Check the law in your state, in some states medical bills cannot ruin your credit. If so, you could mail it back and say send my bills to Piglosi.

You really don’t know what you should do? Really?

Your family comes first. Don’t do something stupid. Let’s wait it out and see, stay alert and active, but you don’t have to do anything right now.

I have a medical bill sitting here, too. I’ll pay it but just not quickly. Don’t mess yourself over. Get it paid.

cash out all of your stocks and 401k, buy silver, buy land to live off of, and basically go off the grid.

The US is going to collapse, and your credit score won’t mean a thing.

How about this. I’ve been thinking about the Amish exemption quite a bit. As you know, the Amish have avoided paying social security and Medicare taxes since the respective inception of those programs on religious grounds. It is also likely that there will be a religious exemption for 0bamacare. We also know that there is some type of application process to obtain the exemption. This should be able to provide a loophole. Perhaps we could band together in formal groups and organizations for mutual support. We would need support for making the right claims and for legal challenges.
Even if we lose the initial challenges, we can learn from the experience. Our applications and challenges will do something else. If we get a mass movement, say 10 million people to fill out applications and conduct appeals when necessary we will be able to overburden the IRS and reduce its effectiveness. Initiating this process is our right and it could provide a relatively safe way to grind down the bureaucracy and we might even win a few.
Let’s take this up with our respective Tea Party organizations. Do research, share information, then disseminate to the public.
Never surrender (and don’t listen to the pundits)

"Check the law in your state, in some states medical bills cannot ruin your credit."

Seems like sound advice.
I might add, though, pick up more 30 rnd mags.
They're always nice to have.
I'm just sayin'

Can you send it back as unpayable, because your father is deceased?

Make payments. They have to take them and can’t send you to collection or ruin your credit if you pay every month on time. Send $10.00 month. But pay the bill.

What does your insurance coverage provide for the procedure you’re being billed by the hospital for? Maybe your insurance only covers 80%. Pay the bill.

Don't pay those medical bills and stop paying back your student loans. I'm NOT saying you should claim you can't pay; just stop paying.

I'm in a similar situation and I'm going to hoard my cash and make any government-related creditors hunt me down. The statute of limitations on most debt is four-to-six years and bad debts fall off your credit report after seven years (except for bankruptcy, which takes ten years to fall off.)

I won't be a sucker anymore.

Paying just 10 bucks a month will restart the statute of limitations and credit report clocks every month. Worst thing you can do. Sucker move.

Quit whining, man up and pay the bill. By your own admission, you were taking preventative measures. Your insurance paid $1900 - I’m sure if you read through your policy you OWE the $600.

I received another bill today for a procedure completed last September and the hospital is asking for another $300

You knew you would have to shell out some money when you decided to have the tests. Pay your bill.

BTW, I hope the tests results gave you peace of mind, and you found out you are not at risk for a stroke.

I disagree. If you think waiting out the Limitations statute is a smart idea, fly at it. They WILL hunt you down and your credit will be ruined for failure to pay. Making payments is the best thing to do.

Here’s a PS to my above reply. I would call the hospital and ask the billing office why it took them 6 months to send a bill from a procedure that was done last September.
