Martial Law?

Martial Law?

Could the Health Care “reform” effort be a “martial law”? Not in the plural sense, but in the singular. That is exactly what is up and coming next week if the democrats get away with their current plans. The so-called Slaughter rule seeks to pass law without having the constitutionally-required votes. U.S. Constitution Art1 Section 7 states: “But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal…”. The Slaughter rule effectively deems the HCR bill to have been passed by the house, without having these yeas and Nays, let alone actually journaling them. Alan Frumin, Senate parliamentarian has stated that the existing Senate bill must be passed in the normal way preventing this, but the president of the Senate, Joe Biden, has power to overrule him. This blatant breech of very specific constitutional law is nothing less than an unprecedented power grab of 1/6 of the US economy. If a singular “martial law” can pass, it will no doubt open up Pandora’s boxes we MUST NOT open, as it can and will lead to the plural.

I think the Democrats should do this. It will make it that much easier to repeal all of their crap legislation after November. Watch the fireworks between Obama and the new Republican dominated House of Representatives. Also, although a supermajority is out of the question, we could take a numeric majority in the senate. Majority rule! Let’s get ‘em!

I’d like to see the gop senators shut down the senate, the government after the November elections. Until obamacare is repealed nothing comes out of congress.

That's really neither here nor there, it reminds me of the screams for conservatives to elect Obama so that there could be "gridlock" in its disregard for reality.

If "martial law" in practice is implemented, there will be no repeal and no elections worth a tinker's d*amn. The step from the ballot box to the bullet box will be your only option. You may want to think twice about that.

Remember it is congress that pays the bills.

One more thing, IF the pubbies take over one or both houses of congress THEY will be in charge of what and who gets investigated and for what.
Whole lot of criminals and criminal acts going on in this administration, just look at how obammy and his fools squashed the acorn investigation.
Bet the farm that will be back on somewhere, somehow.

Peel away the layer of “martial law”, singular or plural, and what emerges is the government, and by government, I mean the government/media/union “sector”, taking over one part of the economy after another. With HCR, General Motors and Chrysler were just warmup pitches. This would be a HUGE (Yes, Hugh...) leap in union membership.

Although I hope to see the Republicans take the majority back in November, I dont trust the Republicans to be any better than the last majority they had which spent entirely too much and did little for the country.

Personally I dont trust any of them. Vote no incumbents.

If the rules of Congress are out the window, the new Republican majority can vote to eliminate the 2/3 majority required to over-ride a presidents veto authority. Doesn’t matter what the Constitution says anymore. Just change it all on the fly! Thanks Democrats for clarifying the rules — the end justifies the means. Rules and ethics don’t matter anymore.

I think you grossly overestimate the courage of your Republican representatives.

Once an entitlement is passed in to law it is written in stone because every few lawmakers have the courage to even suggest its repeal.

It is possible, though rare to curtail an entitlements scope or generosity. So I think that is about as much as we could realistically expect.

Fighting the constitutionality of the HCR law in the courts is a more likely success path.

Even there we probably only succeed in having portions of the law struck down.

I do not think the military will back martial law.
Or else like much of the country there would be a serious split.
Let’s roll.

If we don’t have useful idiots and weasels like McCain, Graham, Collins, Snowe, maybe we can get a new generation of fighters in Congress. We are on the slow path (now ramping up) to bankrupting the whole USA. They can continue on with spending like there is no tomorrow, but tomorrow is on the horizon and approaching fast. When the taxes hit We the People, we may see a lot of pressure on the new Republican majority to do what they don’t want to do — CUT SPENDING and ENTITLEMENTS!

There is a HUGE difference here in this bill compared to others besides the fact that a majority being against it.

The benefits, what few there will be, won’t go into effect until years down the road. I’ve heard anywhere from 2013 to 2018. Yet the economic impact will be immediate.

Every other entitlement program before this once passed into law became effective immediately therefore people got attached to the benefit.

A repeal of something nobody has a chance to reap the benefits of except financial pain will be extremely easy to get repealed.

There was a thread on here a while back that claimed that high ranking military commanders had spoken in private that they would not support martial law, and that if it became necessary that they could remove Obama from office......

That would stir up a real crap storm....

What cannot be repealed, however, is the blatant unprecedented breech of a very specific clause of the US Constitution. It cannot be unbreeched, un-unprecedented, nor can it in any way be made to be un-blatant. It is what it is... even NOW, if they abandon this method, Rep Slaughter, chairwoman of the House Rules committee shows her willingness to abrogate her oath to uphold the constitution. [note: was her oath to “execute” the constitution? well, she has in mind to slaughter it.]

Take into consideration that there are very few Repubs that are true conservatives. Most are gutless RINO’s.

These arrogant elitists are inching us ever closer to the American People’s RESET button...

The manner in which they so blatantly spit on the Constitution and remind us that they know what is best for us is simply fueling the seething anger of the majority of Americans...those who shoulder the fiscal burden of their socialist pogroms and globalist dreams.

It’s time to take back the country.
