Obama Is Doing His Best Jimmy Carter: Are Dems Worried Yet?
Politics Daily ^ | February 24, 2010 | Peter Wehner

Posted on 02/24/2010 6:38:00 AM PST by maggief

The Obama White House -- having been battered for months by falling poll numbers, rising public opposition to its signature domestic initiative, massive defections by Independent voters, and election defeats in New Jersey, Virginia, and (especially) Massachusetts -- is beginning to fray. The smooth-running Obama team we witnessed during the 2008 election is stumbling around in the dark, making mistakes in judgment that are compounding the problems.

For example, during the State of the Union address, President Obama declared that "jobs must be our No. 1 focus in 2010." That was a message echoed by Democrats across the land who knew that many (though not all) of their problems can be traced to Obama's relentless effort to pass health insurance legislation the public has rejected and considers, at a time of nearly 10 percent unemployment, to be beside the point. These members of the president's own political party wanted to turn their attention to jobs rather than health care, reasoning that hanging a lantern on a policy that is crippling their party is a prescription for a disastrous midterm election. Yet this week -- fully a month after the State of the Union address -- attention is once again focused on health care. And if Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid get their way and use the reconciliation process to pass ObamaCare, Democrats will be forced to spend the next several months still talking about it. This will lead Democratic lawmakers to ponder whether their leadership has a political death wish.

the parallels to jimmy are really noteworthy...much more than just surface stuff. hopefully the end result (electorally, that is...not in terms of a real foreign policy crisis) will be teh same, also

March is the month of reckoning, the time runs out, it's either massive inflation or the spending has got to stop. The fed is saying knock knock ....

This is not going to work ... The federal government must shrink.

2008 was the first Democrat budget, see the problem?

I guess when some of us were predicting Obama would be Carter on steroids, we were right.

I was hoping my predictions were wrong.

Carter is a small g godsend by comparison to what Oboy has in store - regardless of stats vs Carter.
It has only been a year folks. Just one year. Pray for 2010 first. Then 2012. Pray for wisdom and a return to placing God as the Head of the of a nation who serves Him!

Obama Is Doing His Best Jimmy Carter: Are Dems Worried Yet?

It is still too early for them to see the resemblance.

Wait until inflation and interest rates hit double digits. Then they may have a clue.

this is a pretty good article, also....good analysis that applies to structures and leadership generally...conservative white houses could benefit from understanding the conceptual failures of both jimmy and obama. it’s not “just” ideology, though no doubt liberalism tends to lead one into the world of make believe, seeing as liberalism is one giant game of “let’s pretend”....hard for a true conservative not to live in the real world

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.

We have Tenncare in Tennessee, a form of Romney care and obamadeathcare.

Do some reading, these are articles since Jan of 2010, older articles tell of waste, fraud, illegals, and earlier cuts to curtail rising cost.

Call it coincidence or bad timing, but many physicians in Tennessee began taking a 14 percent cut for seeing TennCare patients on the same day Gov. Phil Bredesen announced deep cuts in health care spending.

When honesty, integrity and morals have fractured a society folk start caring less about the stronghood of a nation. When our kids are indoctrinated day in and day out with communist social agendas a nation that was founded by God fearing patriots will fall. They are the future of this country and I don't have much hope they will hold on to those principles. It's us, folks, that are in the trenches for the soul of America...WE MUST NOT falter or be dismay...BUT FIGHT for our grand kids...FIGHT for the freedoms we hold so dear! I don't want to leave this world knowing that our country has fallen in the hands of those evil demonic liberal communist RATS without a FIGHT!

It is hard to think of another president who has dropped this far this fast, who after a year has done as much to hurt his party and his cause. Some of that damage is repairable; other presidents have come back from significant setbacks and imposing challenges. But from all appearances, the Obama White House still doesn't get it. It looks for all the world like health care is the whale to Barack Obama's Captain Ahab. He is determined to press ahead with his health care agenda come what may. Well, what may come is an epic midterm election loss, the repudiation of liberalism, and deep damage to the Democratic Party. The specter of Jimmy Carter is beginning to haunt the Obama presidency. And the worst is yet to come.

If that's true, the kids who put Obama in office might abandon the rats in droves.

Actually, Obama is making Carter look marginally competent....but that is only by comparison. Carter was, until Obama, the worst president in US history.

Some stiff competition in that race, too.
