Three days before President Obama's supposedly bipartisan health-care summit, the White House released a new blueprint that Democrats say they will ram through Congress with or without Republican support. So after election defeats in Virginia, New Jersey and even Massachusetts, and amid overwhelming public opposition, Democrats have decided to give the voters want they don't want anyway.
Ah, the glory of "progressive" governance and democratic consent.
"The President's Proposal," as the White House document is headlined, is in one sense a notable achievement: It manages to take the worst of both the House and Senate bills and combine them into something more destructive. It includes more taxes, more subsidies and even less cost control than the Senate bill...
Price controls are always the first resort of national health care...this new White House gambit is merely a preview of ObamaCare's inevitable planned medical economy, which will reduce choice and quality.
The coercive flavor that animates this exercise is best captured in the section that purports to accept the Senate's "grandfather clause" allowing people who like their current health plan to keep it. Except that "The President's Proposal adds certain consumer protections to these 'grandfathered' plans....
The larger political message of this new proposal is that Obama and Democrats have no intention of compromising on an incremental reform, or of listening to Republican, or any other, ideas on health care. They want what they want, and they're going to play by Chicago Rules and try to dragoon it into law on a narrow partisan vote via Congressional rules that have never been used for such a major change in national policy. Just as Mark Steyn has been saying when he subs for Rush. Government taking over health care will give them life-and-death power over us peasants. From then on it’s all over—like the eurosocialists—government will be all powerful and the Party of Government, while it may face some short-term electoral pain, will soon be back in power in a few election cycles, this time for eternity.
They’re banking on the observed history of pubbies, that they won’t do a damn thing to turn back the one-way ratchet of statism if they regain power.
I’m going with what myself and others have theorized, that the dem congresscritters have all been personally promised all manner of cushy jobs and goodies to set them up for life when they’re turned out of office in November and 2012.
Note, he cannot do this on his own, he needs both houses of Congress. They are just as vile and contemptible as he is.
And just wait! The dems are going after your retirement funds/pension money. They plan to raid 401K’s etc. to pay for the trillions they’ve just wasted. We’ll get an IOU. So much a month promised from the funds when we reach retirement age. Er, well, isn’t that illegal? Stealing, in fact? Yes, but it’s Obama, so it’s okay. The Obama administration at ramming speed. Everything the Left does is planned to move the ball further Left. They will propose an atrocious bill they know will not pass. Then they will haggle endlessly until finally “compromising” on what they had intended to get in the beginning.
The Republicans and the American public is finally wising up. Well, at least the public is.

How many more times am I going to read about the “bipartisan” plan that was written by one party and the other one won’t touch? You’d think that a plan like that would be described as “partisan”, but I guess I didn’t go to an Ivy League school......
