It is so sad that murder is called “feticide” only when the child is WANTED!

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then he clearly does not have one.

Eight years for feticide...

I guess the guy needed to commit something like ten a day to get the free pass, letting him off for this act.

He didn’t get enough as far as I am concerned, but it just baffles me how you tack on more time for feticide, when folks can do that legally.

There are some things about our legal system that are seriously screwed up.

Feticide is murder. He should have gotten the death penalty.

They were WANTED fetuses. Had the shooting happened while she was on the way to Planned Barrenhood, I guess it wouldn’t count.

What do you want to bet, that if a guy broke into an abortion clinic and shot a woman on the table in the process of getting an abortion, that he wouldn’t be charged with feticide? I wouldn’t take that bet.

This is an academic issue though. We both know this guy is a beast and deserves to remain in prison for the rest of his life. 53 years doesn’t impress me much. It should be 1053.

The absolute double-standard by the courts in this matter is destructive as it tarnishes our whole judicial system. Killing the innocent is always wrong.

This POS shot and killed the wanted child of the teller during the commission of a crime. That IS capital murder and he should have received the death penalty.

Two children. Double murder in the first degree. Death is the only just penalty.

Indiana has been amending its feticide laws in the wake of this case. Here’s a link with some more details:

I just read the article at the link - missed that there were twins. My son and his wife just had twins sons. This POS should have received a life sentence of being put to death (slow torture over a very long time till he succumbed.

Does his sentence include the possibility of parole?

Thank you.

Changing the feticide law would avoid the controversy that arises when lawmakers try to make killing a fetus the same as killing a human being, Karlson said.

“It removes the philosophical debate which has always been created when you try to call it murder, as to whether a nonviable fetus should be considered a human being,” he said.

Good grief. I almost wrote "God grief, by accident and realized the validity of the accidental verbiage.

Evidently the womb is no longer recognized by some people to be necessary for the nurturing of actual human life.

A quick execution would be okay with me, but he does deserve to be put out of humanity’s misery.

At first I also missed the fact that there were twins lost. This ranks right up there with one of the worst things a human can do to other humans.

I sure wish we could reach more of these beasts before they explode.
