What a waste of BBQ potential.

Speaking of blowing up animals that could be eaten, I have a pond that is full of trash fish (minnows that grew into worthless adult fish).

I want to stock this pond with good fish like bass. Now my question is, if I toss some dynamite into one end of the pond (it’s pretty big) those fish on that end will die. The survivors would flee to the other end, I imagine, where I’d then detonate a second explosive.

Of course this is the most fun way to do this, but can anyone think of another way to get trash fish out of a pond, short of draining said pond?

This is no allegory for Islamo-terrorism. I seriously want to know.

I think using explosives at both ends would effectively "drain" the pond anyway.

Why dont you just go ahead and put the bass in the pond and let them go to work on the minnows.

Sounds like you are looking to be a contestant for the Darwin Awards!

Be careful whatever you do.

I think I saw/read somewhere that if you attach wires to the positive and negative poles of a 12 volt battery and dropped the wires into the water it would "shock" the fish to the surface. I don't know if it would really work but it may be worth a try.

Release walleye and pike, if it’s cold enough.

You can eat them after they eat the minnows.

Start at the shallow end. Fish instinctively flee to the depths. For maximum effect, tie a rock or other weight with a ~3 ft line to the charge so that it doesn’t waste half its energy just squishing silt.

Rotenone is a lot quieter.

Walnut husk tea works too, and if you have access to a walnut tree it doesn’t leave a paper trail...

there are all kinds of poison that you could pour in, that will deteriorate and decompose later. Or, there are many algea controllers that lower the oxygen tension in the water as a means of controlling the algae. if you put an excess amount in, especially on a hot day, the fish will become dazed and can be easily netted.

Or you could always introduce an otter, but it might be hard to disinvite it later.
