Britain's justice system has come under fire after revelations that a man serving a manslaughter sentence has been repeatedly released to go partying.
Adam Briggs, 23, was sentenced to nine years behind bars for his role in arranging the death of a teenage girl but has been allowed out of prison for weeks at a time, the Daily Mail reports.
Under a government release scheme, Briggs has been able to pursue a relationship with a new girlfriend and go to parties only three-and-a-half years into his jail term.
The scheme allows prisoners who usually have less than two years to go until their release to leave prison for up to four weeks at a time.
Briggs has been able to spend two month-long stints staying at his mother's home in Sheffield in northern England, where his movements have reportedly been practically unrestricted.
He was convicted of helping his friend Lee Smith kill his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend.
Photos have been posted online of Briggs partying with his girlfriend Chrissy Foster, something which has been condemned by the father of the girl he helped kill.
"I've seen pictures of him on the internet smiling and having a good time and it's heartbreaking," Timothy Lemm was quoted as saying.
Briggs was convicted in July of 2006 for the crime.

The UK's prison justice system is one helluva joke. Look at the clownishly devised 'government release scheme'. Adams Briggs has exploited the system to go out partying at nightclubs with his girlfriend Chrissy Foster.

A victim relative's anguish seems too much for us.
WTH is going on with the UK???
On the other hand, they will send you to the slammer if you shoot a burglar in your house. So this is their way of trying to make it all average out, I suppose.
I would think the dad would figure a way to put a stop to the release of the man other than saying it breaks his heart.
Yup. Like a garrote.
The victims dad shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
I wonder what his current girlfriend is thinking. He offed a previous ex and it doesn’t worry her in the least???
“Fight for your right to paaartttttyyyyy....”
Great
Go for it UK
The whole country should see this evil fool’s ugly smilin’ face ...
every day
forever.
He looks like he wants to strangle her anyway.
What if she breaks up with him, and he promises to kill her, the next time he is released to “party”?
Why should he sacrifice the best part of his life just because he’s in prison? /liberal insanity
WTH is going on with the UK???
SOCIALISM..
