ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- An Alaska judge's ruling has revealed a heated legal custody battle between Sarah Palin's daughter and the father of Palin's grandson.
A November request by 18-year-old Bristol Palin keep the proceedings closed was denied Christmas Eve. Her Nov. 3 petition for sole custody and child support also seeks a visitation schedule for Levi Johnston, the father of 1-year-old Tripp.
Bristol says her ex-fiance has exercised "sporadic visitation rights."
The 19-year-old Johnston denies in court documents that he has avoided his responsibilities. He is seeking shared custody.

HOw could her parents ever allow Bristol so see such a loser? This continues to puzzle me.

Obviously there is a lot more to this story that we don’t know.
As much as we all know Levi’s a useless douchebag, I think the best way we can handle this story is to ignore it as much as possible. I’m not sure how further discussion of this personal matter benefits anyone.
And more to the point, without a “friendly” press, those real problems are somehow front-page news rather than being hushed up. I don’t remember this much media interest in Chelsea Clinton, or even in President Bush’s daughters.

You make it sound like she’s “seeing” aka “dating” him - where do you find ANY proof of that? It sounds to me as if she’s had very little to do with him other than his “sporadic” visitations as the biological father, which she is now seeking to terminate. How exactly do you see the Palins going wrong?
Levi could probably care less about the child, but he realizes that maintaining some connection to the Palins through his kid is his meal ticket. No more fresh news or battles with the Palins, and Levi Johnson quickly becomes yesterday’s news.
No doubt there will also be those behind-the-scenes anti-Palin operatives helping him wage his fight for “custody.”
Don’t be puzzled, Levi is not being a parent to his child, like so many fathers out there , sad!

Well, she was dating or “seeing” him. That’s how Bristol got pregnant. If a loser like THAT showed up at our house to daye our daughter, he’d be shown the door before the first date happened. He’s trash. Now they have a life time of this loser in their lives.

And what evidence do we have that Levi exhibited that sort of behavior before he got Bristol pregnant? It’s easy to look back on events and blame the Palins for allegedly “letting this happen.” Sounds like the same argument my liberal officemate makes.
only dirt Levi has is his own mud slinging! He needs to man up and be a daddy which I’m sure the Palins would let him!

It is sad fact that many times it seems that presidents that did great things as presidents were not the greatest parents.
It's pretty hard to stop a determined teenage girl who is in love with some loser. Most parents find that the best way to drive a girl into the arms of an unsuitable boyfriend is to insult him and try to keep them apart. Unless you put her in irons and bolt them to the floor, you are not generally going to be able to keep kids apart. This is not Saudi Arabia.
I thank God that my smart mother never said a single word against my first boyfriend, even though she hated him to the point of spitting. I never suspected. If she had taken against him, I would have defended him. As it was, I figured out on my own that he was a loser. The Palins must have tried the same technique. It's too bad that Bristol didn't find that out what a loser she was involved with soon enough.

Np, oservative people are wise and size people, even young adults up accordingly. Anyone with half a brain could see through Obama too and you don’t have to meet him or spend time with him to know what he is about. The same is true of a loser who is a young turk.
