Joe Klein: Palin Drone (Gov. Palin's Climate Op-Ed is attacked) [Barf Alert]
Time Magazine / CNN ^ | December 9, 2009 | Joe Klein

Posted on 12/09/2009 10:44:50 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The Washington Post devotes valuable op-ed space today to Sarah Palin, who uses it to denounce "politicized science":

I've always believed that policy should be based on sound science, not politics.

Okay. But she's not denouncing the politicized, oil-drenched policies of the Bush Administration. She's joining the right-wing hysteria chorus, which has launched a new attack on the science of climate change based on some embarrassing and disgraceful emails written by scientists at the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit. For a more accurate account of the import of those emails, check out Tom Friedman's column in the NY Times.

In the end, I'm slightly mystified by the passion this arouses on the right--although much of it, I assume, is oil-lubricated. What sort of people would be willing to place a significant bet on the lives of their grandchildren? (Answer: those more interested in short-term corporate profits.) What sort of people don't understand that lowering our dependence on foreign oil is in the long-term national security interests of the country? (Answer: those who have no problem with an oil-based, neo-imperialist foreign policy.)

In much of the rest of the world, conservation is a conservative cause. In the United States, Charles Krauthammer and a handful of other conservatives favor a gasoline tax to lower carbon emissions (refundable in the form of an income tax break).(continued)

This isn’t journalism, this is DNC talking points straight from Zero’s desk. If I were Joe Klein’s editor, I’d reject it and say “Do over.”

The MSM waited 2 weeks for the AGW lackies to get their stories straight before covering Climategate.

“I’m slightly mystified by the passion this arouses on the right”

I should happily lower my standard of living on the low probability of future AGW? Duh.

By this reasoning, Klein should become a Christian just in case its necessary to get to heaven.

With a single sentence it is immediately apparent that this is a vehement radical extreme liberal. One that is vitriolic to anyone who says anything other than the radical belief of progressive socialists.

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

Exactly right, but wrong conclusion. I'm not willing to risk my children's future by wrecking the economy based on a long-shot bet that somehow this junk science is right.

The general tone of the article is pathetic. Klien sounds like he is begging readers to believe him, but knows that nobody will.

Reject it, lock him in a room with no fax, email or cell phone, and see if he can produce fifteen words of his own without a lifeline from his masters.

“Amonymous” Joe gives two-bit party hacks a bad name.

For you folks who don’t think Palin is relevant to the current national discussion, ask yourself when has one Republican absolutely driven the Left absolutely crazy and make them come unhinged?

And if you say she’s not that smart, then ask yourself-you cares-in politics it’s all about perception. Do you think that the Left would spend this much time on Palin if she didn’t have the potential to torpedo its agenda. Why not spend at least 1/2 the time and effort in taking down Romney or Huckabee? Seriously, why do you think? Could it be the Far Left is not afraid of Mitt or Huck? Now you might say the Far Left is crazy to be so obsessed with Palin. And you might be right but it is what it is.

In other words to those on the right who are anti-Palin get a life and smell the coffee. There is a reason that Palin drives the Left crazy and it’s called FEAR.

They are terrified that they will be held responsible for this travesty. They are like the little nazis who suddenly did not want to play nazi anymore once faced with the hangman’s noose.

Obviously your dumba$$! Palin wants to increase DOMESTIC production and nuclear energy. You asshats want to keep sucking on foreign bought oil.
