What sort of people don't understand that lowering our dependence on foreign oil is in the long-term national security interests of the country? (Answer: those who have no problem with an oil-based, neo-imperialist foreign policy.)

LOL. Drill, baby, drill.

Yeah. Conservatives DO want to end our dependence on foreign oil. In the short term, that means mining our own resources. In the longer run, that means finding alternative energy sources that make sense.

But NONE of that has to do with global warming, and nothing proposed by the global warming crowd will help end our dependence on foreign oil.

In fact, almost anything we do will likely make it cheaper still to use foreign oil than domestic oil, which will RAISE our dependence on foreign oil.

Cap and Trade does nothing but raise the cost of energy we have no real control over. Most of us are not Al Gore, and are already saving as much energy as is reasonable.
