Judy Woodruff did a piece on Sarah Palin and her book. Among the interview participants was National Review Contributing Editor David Frum. Frum said that Palin "got into a position of leadership by sending very powerful sexual signals."

It was a highly edited segment and there was no follow up or elaboration.

Frum was, as usual, seething at Palin. This comment, however, took it to a whole new level, in my mind. Other candidates have not been photographed in gym clothes? Obama was not photographed shirtless? Sarah is required to cover up because she looks so good?

This was a despicable, contemptible contempt from Frum. Of course, he has a major problem of cultural distance from the heart of the conservative movement. He is a Canadian import who despises Red State America.

Frum should revise his position to “Newsweek magazine uses sex.” Newsweek trawled through archives of Runners World magazine, stole the photo without permission from RW or Palin and slapped it on the cover in a feeble effort to boost circulation beyond Dentist’s offices. If someone is featured in Runners World magazine I would find it odd that they were dressed in something other than runners gear. A Victorian Frum is suffering from hysteria at the sight of a woman’s bare ankles.

Frum is acting like a total idiot. Isn’t supposedly sexist to say that a woman got into a position of power because of sex? He’s got to come up with something more substantial and credible than that.
