Sounds like another waste of government money. Who the hell cares why butterflies fly from one place to another.

Fascinating post. Especially the last sentence. Who would imagine that Science would print this, using Genesis as a reference?
And what better candidate for the identity of this engineer than the God of the Bible, who made every creature very good in the beginning, including the monarch butterfly with its amazing navigation system?

Years ago while traveling in Mexico I encountered the Monarch migration. Millions of these astoundingly beautiful creatures swarming all around my car as they quietly fluttered by like living flowers on the wind, though gone in a few minutes the memory remains.
And yet, they are only one of many varieties that our Creator has blessed us with.

Then there are the tiny hummingbirds which come back each year to my front porch and, if the feeder has not been hung in the same spot where it was in prior years, will hover at that spot over and over again until it is, once again, in its "proper" place.
After feeding, there is a spot on a small limb on a nearby maple tree where the hummingbird sits after feeding, and its position on that limb does not vary by six inches from year to year.

These butterflies, therefore, have a well-organized network of data coordination involving light information captured both with eyes and antennae, as well as circadian clocks in both the brain and antennae. After considering the chemical, wind, and sound detectors within the antennae aloneas well as the geographic information that is somehow transferred to the second generation that enables them to travel to a location theyve never visitedone can see that such specifications could never be generated randomly. For functionality, they would require an engineer to specifically design them to work in conjunction with the complex systems present in the eyes and brain to steer the butterfly to its programmed destination. What empirical evidence does Mr. Thomas cite to support this assertion?
