Then there are the tiny hummingbirds which come back each year to my front porch and, if the feeder has not been hung in the same spot where it was in prior years, will hover at that spot over and over again until it is, once again, in its "proper" place.

After feeding, there is a spot on a small limb on a nearby maple tree where the hummingbird sits after feeding, and its position on that limb does not vary by six inches from year to year.

I just bought a house with a huge backyard, with lots of natural trees and vegetation. I can’t believe how many different kinds of birds are back there. And speaking of hummingbirds, they sure are courageous little critters. They routinely dive-bomb birds that would probably just assume eat them for lunch. Amazing to watch.
