What a bizarre decision by the Nobel committee. The Kenyan Clown has probably done less for world peace than any previous holder of the office, and certainly 9 months seems like an entirely too short period to make an informed decision if they are going to make the decision on general principles rather than specific actions.

When Obama and his posse go to Sweden to accept the award he’ll give one of his holier then you are speeches, talk about peace on earth goodwill to men, and pull the wool over everyone’s eyes again. If anyone on the Nobel committee had me Rahm they would have changed their minds.

That this man, who wrote two autobiographies without accomplishing anything of note, and became president because Americans wanted to show Europe that we're not racists, has won this prize after 9 months in the most powerful office on the planet proves only that the Nobel folks want to give him a push so he can institute European-style healthcare.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.
For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

This man has done absolutely nothing in his entire life to warrant this award.

You are absolutely right, it is dispiriting and disquieting to know that the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to a man on the basis of no accomplishment whatsoever except having achieved the right skin pigment and having pronounced an indictment of his own country. It reveals the depths of anti-Americanism in many elitist circles in Europe and elsewhere, not excluding the United States. It reveals the power of the left to manipulate the world by manipulating its own institutions. It confirms that much of the world has been given over to agitprop and has abandoned decency.
The evidence accumulates that we are in a very very dangerous world.
One need only reflect for a minute that George Bush has liberated tens of millions of people and kept the world safe from a terrorist holocaust. For this he is reviled while the man who has made the world he inherited as president less safe while simultaneously undermining the ability of his own country to keep the world safe, is made laureate.
