Incitement Rhetoric Gets Even More Dangerous (NewsMax's Military Coup Article)
The Washington Monthly ^ | September 30, 2009 | Steve Benen

Posted on 10/06/2009 4:13:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Just eight months into a Democratic administration, Newsmax is running a piece speculating about a military overthrow of the elected leadership of the United States government. Seriously.

Newsmax columnist John L. Perry encourages his right-wing readers not to "dismiss" the notion of an American military coup as "unrealistic."

America isn't the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn't mean it wont [sic]. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it....

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama's exponentially accelerating agenda for "fundamental change" toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama's radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

In April, a common Republican talking point was the notion that Democrats were creating some kind of "banana republic." In retrospect, the irony is rich.

There is an unmistakable trend in right-wing rhetoric in the direction of extremism and violence. It's not at all healthy, and it's a sign of conservative contingents gone stark raving mad.

I don't think those leftist loons ever read the Constitution, or are aware of the military oath to defend the Consititution against all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC.

Doesn't say anything in that oath about "Except for the POTUS, who is above every law."

Damn right it doesn't. No one knows that oath better than you. Thanks again for the ping.

Yep. But I hope it never comes to this. CW2 would be ug-ly. The problem is, the leftists are retarded, and don’t realize they are behaving dangerously stupidly, by trampling the Constitution in their race to turn our Republic into a socialist tyranny.

I trend toward believing it will be a restoration of our Constitution.

Depends if the monarchists or the patriots win...bloodless would be nice, but, if the way ACORN is trying to hold onto their power is any indication I don’t see King Zero and his cohorts riding quietly into the sunset. Their name calling seems to be losing it’s edge and is slipping into desperation.

Indeed, I have a feeling though it will be something none of us even see coming.

We'll wake up one morning and things will be like they've never been before.

I don't have all the "toys" but could put up a decent fight, I pray it doesn't come to that though, time will tell.

Interesting, although Benen misrepresents the article, and most of the comments reference Benen's super sloppy hearsay.

It reminds me of Johnson's Presidency.

Johnson, loyal to the United States was technically anti communist, but it didn't do him much good as he was a Democrat machine politician and had an ego about the same size as Zer0's.

He was absolutely determined that a socialist Democrat machine would run the United States, not a Russian Marxist Bolshevik machine.

He neglected to think through that the results would be about the same.

So anti commie Johnson got busy fighting the commies and was sure that his brilliant micro management of the war and military was the only way to win.

The US military went on ahead to win in spite of Johnson and the devastating losses of personnel that his micro management cost. The results were that the new extreme leftist DemoRats (note the "R") hated him for the win and the country hated him for the casualties.

Johnson didn't even try to run again, he knew what the result would be.

It took the Rat Congress to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by defunding the South Vietnamese and starving them to defeat.

Now we have Zer0 in Johnson's position except Zer0 IS a Marxist with the same Marxist DemoRat Congress.

The only thing we will see from the US Military is a valiant attempt to win against America's enemies, and failing that, resignations.

thanks for the link

They stood faithful to the oath that our Founders gave us: To bear true faith and allegiance--not to a man; not to the land; not to a political party, but to an idea. The idea is liberty, as codified in the Constitution of the United States. We swear, as did they, an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. And throughout the years they paid in blood and treasure the terrible price of that oath. That was their day. This is ours. The clouds we can see on the horizon may be a simple rain or a vast hurricane, but there is a storm coming. Make no mistake.

The Alinsky model is the model our President uses.

Outlining his strategy in organizing Alinksy wrote:

“There’s another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families - more than seventy million people - whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year [in 1971]. They cannot be dismissed by labeling them blue collar or hard hat. They will not continue to be relatively passive and slightly challenging. If we fail to communicate with them, if we don’t encourage them to form alliances with us, they will move to the right. Maybe they will anyway, but let’s not let it happen by default”

William Ayers: Prairie Fire
Page 40 of the manuscript is typical: It outlines the Weather Underground’s strategies for overthrowing the United States. Among the many strategies are: eliminating the feeling of patriotism among the general public, destroying the government from within, and starting a mass insurrection among the lower classes.
“Our job is to tap the discontent seething in many sectors of the population, to find allies everywhere people are hungry or angry, to mobilize poor and working people against imperialism.” “Our final goal is the destruction of imperialism, the seizure of power, and the creation of socialism. Our strategy for this stage of the struggle is to organize the oppressed people of the imperial nation itself to join with the colonies in the attack on imperialism. This process of attacking and weakening imperialism involves the defeat of all kinds of national chauvinism and arrogance; this is a precondition to our fight for socialism.”
http://www.zombietime.com/prairie_fire/

There can be little mistake that the United States of America, in throwback scenes to the Roman Empire, IS being attacked from within.
