All things considered, this may not be terribly far off the mark.
A great deal depends on how many people are vaccinated, and the effectiveness of the vaccine.
Suppose we do have a serious epidemic as occurred during the 70’s. Is vaccine available and is it manufactured in significant amounts in the US anymore?
When tens of millions of people are vaccinated there are going to be hundreds of people that suffer serious side affects like death or paralysis. So if 40 million people are vaccinated and a total of 1 in 40,000 people die or have some severe reaction like paralysis, that’s 1000 big time law suits against the manufacturer. And these would be just the legitimate ones.
I think the numbers were something like that during the last big swine flue epidemic. This legal risk is probably unacceptable for such a low margin business.
I am. Here is why I will win by saying it won't happen:
1. There will only be about half the number of doses needed for those who want the vaccine. The Obama administration botched the ordering. Government isn't going to force anyone to have a shot which isn't available.
2. There is little point to it even if anyone were inclined to order it. Influenza A moves too fast. By the time mandatory vaccinations could be organized, it would be too late.
3. If this did turn into a 1918 event, government would be too busy digging graves, keeping essential services going, dealing with those demanding medical care and civil unrest to bother thinking of mandatory vaccinations.

Kathleen Sebelius is turning out to be a real piece of work. What a sell-out!
Good link. Thanks. There are over the counter inflammatory mediator inhibitors some use to prevent flu from progressing to ARDS. Scroll down to the first reply below this article
Now Australia, being down-under and all, is just coming out of it's flu season and like, you know, the country decided it needed the vaccine for its own citizens, like, so we're not going to get it in time.
We got some real winners in this administration.
Did any of ya’ll read Tom Clancys’ Rainbow Six? This is the same sh*t, but, just notice how much more elegantly and efficiently the federal gov’t can do it. They leaked it to the media months in advance, but the forth estate coudn’t be bothered with any trivia during the corronation.
Then, they f*cked up the virus, then, they got the WHO involved,(AND WE ARE STILL UNDER LEVEL 6 PANDEMIC ALERT), and then, they f*cked up the vaccine.
We won’t need health care reform with this level of incompetence.
I wouldn’t bet against the OThuga regime doing anything it could that was destructive and murderous.
I recall reading this past week that the Obama admin was going to make a deal with the vaccine maker that somehow offered immunity from lawsuits. Don’t have a link, but I think I read it somewhere on FR...
From another source:
It is extremely rare, however, to obtain insufficient amounts of lysine through the diet. Generally, only vegetarians who follow a macrobiotic diet and certain athletes involved in frequent vigorous exercise are at risk for lysine deficiency. For vegetarians, legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) are the best sources of lysine
It goes on to say,"Beef, pork, and chicken are also good sources of lysine."
Bon appetit ;-)

Maybe we'll just buy the Made in China vaccine.
The Los Alamos Middle School in New Mexico had 100 kids call in sick yesterday. About 20% of the school. Get ready!
According to the CDC, there have been 182,166 confirmed cases and 1799 deaths for a mortality rate of 0.0099. I have read somewhere else that the majority of those deaths were in the US. Based on a population of 300 Million, with 50% infection rate, one would expect 1.48 Million deaths, not 90,000. Am I missing something here or is this another example of our mathematically challenged government?
Exactly. This H1N1 might be high morbidity/low mortality
Emphasis on *might* MIGHT BE. That means lots of people
get sick, but a smaller percentage die than some other
flu strains. Repeat, that’s a possibility. With a whole
lot of people sick, many more than usual, a there would be
unhappily, a large number of fatalities.
Apparently we have a grand niece and her brother down with H1N1 as of yesterday. They are being treated with Tamiflu.
Back in 1968 I had the “Spanish” flu. I ran a fever as high as 105, had MAJOR hallucinations and came within a whisker of dying. I still think that may be the worst pain I have ever endured and I have had some pain. I said later that it felt as though a big, strong man had beaten me with a stick from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. Every inch of my body felt like a toothache.
I can still remember the psychic effects, it seemed that I split into two persons, one was having hallucinations and trying to fight off the huge spiders and other strange animals while the other was quite calmly watching the scene and wondering what it was going to be like going through life as an insane young man, unable to work, a burden on my parents, useless as could be. Somehow I was still able to drag myself from the bed to the toilet and back but that was all I could do. I don’t think I ate anything for three days.
