An agile bear jumped a fence, walked atop walls and wandered into the backyard of a home Wednesday in San Dimas.

The bear was spotted at 1:35 p.m. in the 2400 block of Terrebonne Avenue, sheriff's Sgt. Richard Ramirez said. It jumped over a chain-link fence and walked on top of a stone wall like a gymnast on a balance beam.

Once in the backyard of a home, the bear dipped its front paws into the pool, but disappeared behind the residence to search for food. After rummaging through two garbage cans, the bear returned to the pool for a brief swim.

The state is totally bankrupt and they worry about a little bear taking a dip. The bear cost the state zero money, he is not on welfare, in a drug gang, making porno, filling up the prisons, etc. Leave the bear alone.

Another bear that has lost its fear of humans. It’s a dead critter walking.

I personally think the bear is pretty darn cute (especially at a distance). I hope the authorities just knocked him out and returned him to the wild after his suburban pool adventure.:)

Unless durring the bears aquatic adventure he was a threat to humans. That’s exactly what should have happened. Poor bear waking up in the woods sore confused and with a wiff of chorlorine...

Black bears are not Alpha predators like Brown Bears. They are natually scavengers, and back off when challenged nearly every time. I’ve read about problems with them, but it’s pretty rare.

However, they are very powerfully built and dangerous, particularly if cubs are involved.
