"On the Record" host Greta Van Susteren hosts "Summer of Evil: The Manson Murders" on FOX News Channel.
Forty years ago, a two-night murder rampage in Los Angeles by the followers of an aspiring rock star and cult leader named Charles Manson terrified the Hollywood community and made headlines across the world. In the last four decades, the savage murders of a beautiful actress named Sharon Tate and six others at the hands of a "family" of hippies have taken on mythical proportions. The story that shocked the world has it all: Sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll, movie stars and murder. It also proved to be the death knell to the hippie movement.
This hour-long exclusive FOX News documentary will take an in-depth look at how Mansons dream of rock stardom evolved into "Helter Skelter" and turned his peaceful young followers into cold-blooded killers. The Manson murders are so seared into the American publics conscience that the book Helter Skelter, which chronicles the case, remains the No. 1 true crime bestseller of all-time.

"they [the Weather Underground] employed revolutionary jargon, advocated armed struggle and black liberation and began bombing buildings, taking responsibility for at least 20 attacks. Estimates of their number ranged at times from several dozen to several hundred."

Charles Manson's Helter Skelter:
"Helter Skelter would begin, according to one of Charlie's devotees, 'with the black man going into white people's homes and ripping off the white people, physically destroying them. A couple of spades from Watts would come up into the Bel Air and Beverly Hills district...and just really wipe some people out, just cutting bodies up and smearing blood and writing things on the wall in blood...all kinds of super-atrocious crimes that would really make the white man mad...until there was open revolution in the streets, until they finally won and took over. Then the black man would assume the white man's karma. He would then be the establishment'..."

Confession (Manson Family)
When they got in the house, Susan [Atkins] said that in the living room there was a man on the couch and a woman on the chair reading. Then some of Susan's group stayed in the living room, while Susan went into the bedroom where Sharon was sitting on the bed talking to Jay Sebring. They quickly put nooses over Sharon and Jay's heads so that if they moved they would choke.
Frykowski ran for the door. "He was full of blood," she said and claimed that she had stabbed him three or four times. "He was bleeding and he ran to the front part, and would you believe that he was there hollering 'Help, help, somebody please help me,' and nobody came? Then we finished him off."
"Sharon was the last to die," Susan said with a laugh as she described how Sharon was begging her, " Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. I don't want to die. I want to live. I want to have my baby. I want to have my baby."
Susan said she just looked at Sharon straight in the eye and said, "Look, bitch, I don't care about you. I don't care if you're going to have a baby. You had better be ready. You're going to die and I don't feel anything about it...In a few minutes I killed her."
Susan said she saw that there was Sharon's blood on her hand and she tasted it. "Wow, what a trip! To taste death, and yet give life."

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love." - "Divine Racism: The Unacknowledged Threshold Issue for Black Theology", in African-American Religious Thought: An Anthology, by William R Jones, ed Cornel West and Eddie Glaube (Westminster John Knox Press).

HANNITY: But Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not backing down and has not for years and in his strong stance on the teaching of black liberation theology is nothing new. He had the same things to say last spring when he appeared on "Hannity & Colmes:"
WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the '60s, systematized black liberation theology that started with Jim Cone in 1968 and the writings of Cone and the writings of Dwight Hopkins and the writings of womynist theologians and Asian theologians and Hispanic theologians, then you can't talk about the black value system.
HANNITY: But I'm a reverend
WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir?

excerpt...
In 1969, Ayers and his wife convened a "War Council" in Flint Michigan, whose purpose was to launch a military front inside the United States with the purpose of helping Third World revolutionaries conquer and destroy it.
Taking charge of the podium, dressed in a high-heeled boots and a leather mini-skirt her signature uniform Dorhn incited the assembled radicals to join the war against "Amerikkka" and create chaos and destruction in the "belly of the beast." Her voice rising to a fevered pitch, Dohrn raised three fingers in a "fork salute" to mass murderer Charles Manson whom she proposed as a symbol to her troops. Referring to the helpless victims of the Manson Family as the "Tate Eight" (the most famous was actress Sharon Tate) Dohrn shouted:
Dig It. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, they even shoved a fork into a victims stomach! Wild!

You’re welcome, and thank you for the kind remarks. :)
Thanks for the link to my earlier posting from 12 hours ago.
I am watching Greta now. Of course, I lived through this horrible disaster. It is very frightening that the sinister plans that Manson had convinced people to follow and freely go through with the slaughter. And at the end, all were proud of what they had accomplished.
So Charlie Manson inspired Bill Ayres and Bernadine Dohrn, and Barrack Obama is their protege. Stick a fork in us, we are done!
Yes. This creeped me out when I watched the show last night.
Only good thing one can say about that scum is at least he ended the “peace and love” talk and thoroughly discredited the hippie fantasy.
I’ve watched several shows covering this. There’s one thing the media doesn’t get: it was the total RANDOMNESS of these crimes that freaked everyone out...and it continues to this day.
Revolution 1
Lyric: You say you want a revolution/ Well you know/ We all want to change the world.../ But when you talk about destruction/ Don't you know that you can count me out (in)
Significance: The singing of "in" after the word "out," even though "in" doesn't appear in the lyrics as they were presented on the printed sheet enclosed with the album, indicates that the Beatles had been undecided but now favor revolution[42] Though they are no longer on a "peace-and-love trip," they can't admit as much to the establishment.[4]
Lyric: You say you got a real solution/ Well you know/ We'd all love to see the plan
Meaning: The Beatles want Manson to tell them how to escape the horrors of Helter Skelter[43] They are ready for the violence; they want Manson to create his album that will tell them what to do. Its songs will be "the plan," whose subtle messages will be aimed at the various parts of society that will be involved in Helter Skelter.[4][8]

Wikipedia source [4]
"There were other songs in the [Beatles] White Album in which the meanings were even less obscure. "Piggies"-complete with oinks in the background-described the pigs-establishment whites in their formal clothes-out for the evening with their piggie spouses-and said that "what they need's a damn good whacking," a phrase that Charlie especially liked. "Revolution 1" had lyrics that were printed in the album as:
You say you want a revolution ...
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out.
But when you listened to the record a voice clearly sang "in" immediately afterward, saying-according to Charlie-that while they had been on a peace-and-love trip before, now (even if they couldn't admit it to the pig establishment) the Beatles were ready for the violence of Armageddon, waiting for Charlie to sing the word that would set it off, as they added later in the song:
You say you got a real solution Well you know We'd all love to see the plan.

The Lost John Lennon Interview
"Power to the People"
TA (interviewer): In a way you were even thinking about politics when you seemed to be knocking revolution?
JL (Lennon): Ah, sure, 'Revolution' . There were two versions of that song but the underground left only picked up on the one that said 'count me out'. The original version which ends up on the LP said 'count me in' too; I put in both because I wasn't sure. There was a third version that was just abstract, musique concrete, kind of loops and that, people screaming. I thought I was painting in sound a picture of revolution--but I made a mistake, you know. The mistake was that it was anti-revolution.
On the version released as a single I said 'when you talk about destruction you can count me out'. I didn't want to get killed. I didn't really know that much about the Maoists, but I just knew that they seemed to be so few and yet they painted themselves green and stood in front of the police waiting to get picked off. I just thought it was unsubtle, you know. I thought the original Communist revolutionaries coordinated themselves a bit better and didn't go around shouting about it. That was how I felt--I was really asking a question. As someone from the working class I was always interested in Russia and China and everything that related to the working class, even though I was playing the capitalist game.

John Lennon lyrics - Power To The People
Album: Shaved Fish
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
Say you want a revolution
We better get on right away
Well you get on your feet
And out on the street
Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
A million workers working for nothing
You better give 'em what they really own
We got to put you down
When we come into town
Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
I gotta ask you comrades and brothers
How do you treat you own woman back home
She got to be herself
So she can free herself
Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
Now, now, now, now
Oh well, power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

Back In The USSR Song Lyrics
by The Beatles:

It wasn't *totally* random. They specifically targeted rich white people. The plan was to incite a race-based revolutionary overthrow of the white capitalist class, and for blacks to come out victorious. That is what James Cone's (and Reverend Wright's) "Black Liberation" advocates. The Weather Underground also advocated "Black Liberation" and 'Revolution'. Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn still promote it as university professors.
