You are right. The hippie movement was not peaceful. Quite the contrary, it was subversive and disruptive and instrumental in undermining the character of the American landscape. The progeny of the hippies is the contemporary leftist liberal who would like you to think he is just looking out for the little guy, but in reality is focused on the complete destruction of Western heritage. Jesus warned us about wolves in sheep’s clothing; we ought to have listened.

“Manson....had this phenomenal ability to gain control over other people and get them to do terrible things,”

Sounds like some other popular public figure (cough, cough) Obama (cough)

"The Manson murders sounded the death knell for hippies and all they symbolically represented,"

Uh, no it didn't. They are still around today making up a very large percentage of college faculties.

You give hippies far too much credit.

Most of them were just rebellious kids that didn’t conform to society by wearing their hair long and smoking marijuana.

There were a few politically active ones with evil intent, but most were just kids following the latest fads.

Kelly, I don’t think that is the correct Charles Manson......I might be wrong but my memory of him has him with more hair and a skinnier face.....This guy almost has hispanic features.

This is the question...if Charlie Manson was twenty-five years old today...what kind of damage could this guy inflict on today’s society? Charlie had enormous talents to manipulate.

All I can say is that it's a good thing he didn't go to an Ivy League School and hang out with the radicals of the day. It was all Charlie, petty crime, and immediate gratification.

Why didn’t he just go ahead tell us it would be hippie’s in tie-dye’s.

......What I remember most about hippies is that they were all thieves. .......

Were?

They are alive and well and operating from the white house and capital building. We are now governed by the pacifist left

They were the murders that ended the 1960s, the decade of love
arrrrgh! This gets too confusing.

I thought it was the Hells Angles stabbing of that black guy(1) at the Rolling Stones free concert in Altamont on December 6, 1969, that ended the 'decade of love'.

'SERIES', the 60's were anything BUT the 'decade of love'. I know I was there.

We had race riots across the county starting in the early 60's. Jack getting Whacked, then the hit on RFK. The MURDER of Marilyn Monroe. The '68 Rat Convention & Hippie Riot (filthy scum). War protesters. Hippies taking over Colleges. BILL AYERS and *HIS* Weathermen. The Manson family. Fatso Kenndy killing Mary Jo Kopechne on July 18, 1969, and then the Stones Concert.

So if the 60's was the 'Decade of Love', what the heck was the 1950's? 'The Decade of Nirvana'? (not the band /s)

(1) Little known (reported) fact; the black guy had a gun and the Hells Angel charged in the stabbing was found Not Guilty.

“They are still around today making up a very large percentage of college faculties.”

True, but somewhat diluted, one would hope, by being in their 60s and knocked upside the head with the realities of life.

Some folks think that the globalists destroyers have worked to create thousands of such demonized angry wounded souls to go on violent rampages of killing and destruction . . . on the way to chaos . . . yielding an easier time for the tyrannical global gestapo to more overtly implement the global government.

Sometimes I wonder if there’s some truth to the idea.

In ‘68, the girl next door (later my wife) and I jumped in car and left Ohio for Hollywood. It was a crazy time for a couple of 18 y/o kids - totally different culture. We lived relatively near the Tate house but still had no clue the evil that was lurking so close.

The same Terry Melcher that was married to Doris Day?

If so- no wonder she lives in virtual seclusion today and for many years.

They were pretty whacked out on drugs like LSD and peyote or dissociated from troubled broken families. You can read her bio here. There was a whole subculture of teenagers and young adults whacked out on drugs doing strange things between 1967-1969 that was surreal to live through. During the trial the subject came up whether her testimony should be considered credible given the volume of mind-altering drugs used. In both the Bugliosi book and in their subsequent testimony, it was apparent they had delusions about Manson induced by the drugs.

Unfortunately, it was not the last time confused young Americans were led to believe a con artist was the messiah. And using similar cult methods. Of course, Manson never got to be president or demand mandatory "End of Life" counseling, actually appointing a "science czar" who wants sterilization drugs in the food and water supply for depopulation. So which is weirder?

Terry Melcher was Doris’s son by her first husband, and was adopted by her third.

Terry and girlfiend Candice Bergen were living at the Cielo Drive house, but moved out shortly before the murders.

Linda Kasabian grew up in New Hampshire, and returned after the trial. She and some friends were arrested for setting a bonfire in the woods in the town next to mine. Later, she moved to Washington state.
