Shouldn’t we ask why she resigned first?

She may be protecting Alaska but, unless she finds a cave and $500,000 somewhere, she and her family will remain in the cross hairs.

$500K would only be a minor portion of the book advance she would command.

So she should continue taking the outragous ethics accusations that have cost over $600,000 on the last six months? So, that every time she steps outside of the state, they can accuse her of disregarding fer duties to the state of Alaska?

She has, in one move, removed two avenues of attack from the statists. She may haved opened one other lane of attack, but it is ineffective at best. Now, if she wants she can start her campaign. After the Kenyan started his 30 months out.

I predict the next GOP candidate will be just as gutless, clueless, and out of touch a candidate as the last one was. If that is the case. He will have positions that are not significantly different from those of the Kenyan.

Sarah has more ethics than any one I have ever known from your state of New York. Would you compare her to Hillary, Spritzer, Giuliani or any other politician from your neck of the woods?

________________________________________________

This is just silly.

Sarah screwed the pooch by bailing out with almost forty percent of her term still to go. Pretending that's ok because there are worse politicians is false logic.

She *did* explain. You didn't hear it.

I watched the entire speech. She rambled on about a bunch of things but made no definitive statement that gave a clear reason.

Trying to 'spare' the people of Alaska 18 months of a lame-duck is smoke. If it were the 'right' thing to do then every governor who is facing term limits should leave office with a year and a half to go.

Arguing that she wants to save the people to whom she gave her oath the expense of having a governor who spends her time (and their money) on political junkets is bull. There is no law that forces any late-term governor to travel and many do not, they stay and do the job.

All you who thought that Sarah was the party's saviour seem to be having a hard time dealing with her inexplicable behavior. It's easy, she bailed out on the people who elected her. She has not given an adequate or clear reason. Look for another saviour, this one has clay feet.

maybe she decided her family was more important than being president.

Except she didn't say she wasn't going to run for the presidency, she quit the job she already had.

I'd back her under any circumstances, simply due to her evidenced characteristics of tenacity, honesty, and imperiousness to irrelevant commentary.

_____________________________________________________

Tenacity? She quit.

Imperious to irrelevant commentary? As far as we can tell, irrelevant commentary is why she quit.

Look up irony.

This will turn out to be a brilliant political move. First, be gone with the scandal talk...if there were one it would have benn out by now lol.

This allows Palin to set up a national organization. With the GOP is total chaos, it has one real asset for the 2010 midterms, Sara Palin.

Who draws thousands while others dras hundreds? Palin.

She will campaign and help finance 2010 midterm candidates and all of them will be clinging on to her. This is how you run for President, people. Those favors will be returned with endorsements in 2012.

Sit back and watch nubies.

Couldn't agree more.

And at every whistle stop the people and reporters will be asking her, "are you running in 2012?" and she will be getting free good press from all corners.

To hell with the conventional wisdom and these effeminate wankers at American Spectator.

Sarah knows what she is doing, and what she is doing is going to pay off, (big time) one way or another.

She will be POTUS.

You’re right on target. She’s the only bright spot in either party.

It is also a brilliant move because it throws down the gauntlet to the Rats and MSM:

By Palin doing this, she is going on the record about how the republican form of government in AK (and the US) is now ruined by dirty RAT politics, backstabbing RINOs, and a complicit press.

If the Rats, RINOs and MSM have effectively poisoned all rational political discourse and subverted all free elections, not to mention their overall corruption in office, then, we all have got a HUGH problem on our hands.

She has by resigning made this issue impossible to ignore.

But don't worry, it is going to take most people a year or so to figure this one out.

You seem to be the only person here who gets it. Palin can, if she chooses, do a lot more for America out of the State Governor's office than in it. That includes doing more for her own State as well as her self and her family. Her decision is intensely ethical and bold.

She has the opportunity to spend the next three to seven years campaigning for conservative candidates; building up the grass roots of the party, which is its only chance to survive as a serious contender; raising funds, building an organization and earning favors to be called in at a later date; improving and strengthening her appeal to the nation at large.

She now can "run" without running. Nixon did it for eight years in the '60's, Reagan did it for six years in the seventies. Travelling around the nation, meeting people, giving speeches, raising funds, party-building face to face.

Leaving office frees her up to follow this strategy, and if in the end she decides not to run, she will have done a great deal for her country in the meantime.

I’m conservative as they come. I despise Romney and/or McCain, and LOATHE the clintons and the obamas.

I had a lot of hope held out for Sarah.

But this author is just plain-old right.

C'mon, Laz! You really think so?

Amazing << Hear this. Feel this, and tell me that this isn't music.

Oh, dear...
