My first though was if your typical New York mugging victim dies on an atheist bus, does he spend eternity in the bus garage. Still I wouldn't worry about the campaign unless the ads start pointing out the world is not merely 6000 years old. If they start hitting the flat earthers, they can make points.

“You don’t have to believe in God to be a moral and ethical person”

God's response: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death." Proverbs 14:12

The NYC bus ads are augmented by the San Fran muni line bus ads that extol Islam as the one true way.

What’s missing in this mix?

As the sign on an English church said last Easter:

To Christians, Blessed Easter
To Jews: Blessed Passover
To Atheists: Good Luck

Young earthers are NOT flat earthers.

Lying ad hominem invective is so Leftist.

My first thought is that it's great he is happy that Obama has made Atheism ‘acceptable’, but is not really his acceptance that is going to be the ultimate issue...

“You don’t have to believe in God to be a moral and ethical person”

That's true, relative to man's standards. However, God says we have all sinned. God calls us to "Be Holy for I am Holy" and to "Be perfect for I am perfect". God's standard is perfection.

If you live a perfect life, you don't need Jesus. He didn't come to save the righteous but the lost. But God says none of us are righteous.

You can't stand before a perfect holy God who knows no sin, and expect to live. You need to be forgiven, if you want to survive that.

Think I could get a donor to put up money for a pro-choice ad? “Peanut butter OR jelly, never both.” Some of us take pride in out sammiches.

These dumb idiots. Don’t they realize that every time they make reference to “atheism,” one has to then think about and consider the reality of God? This is the best advertisement for God there is. It’s like telling a child to stand in the corner and don’t think about ice cream. Guess what? People are more likly to consider the prospect of a God and what might mean to them, when you tell them not to acknowledge that there is a God. You can only deny the existence of something that has within itself the distinct possibility of actually existing.

How about an ad like,

“There’s no reason for you to live. Support the President’s healthcare plan.”

The ads are like saying, “Santa doesn’t exist.” They want the public to think and put God on that level. 10 grand could be spent in better ways. Would anybody in their right mind put up ads that say, “Elves don’t exist.” Yet, that is what in effect they are doing. Their public service announcement.

Nah, you can be a moral parasite on the prevailing culture in which you exist.

Campaign begs the question: If there is no God, what do you mean by “moral” and “ethical?”

I suppose this is a good thread to mention to all FReepers coming to FRisco this weekend for the Gay “Pride” festivities that there will be a free, all-day atheist film festival at the Roxie Cinema on 16th Street.

Before the parade, after the parade, anytime, it’s a good time to deny God!

From the world’s perspective people certainly do not have to be a Christian to act morally and ethically. Of course, the real questions are why act morally or ethically? How does one determine what is moral or ethical? If man is a product of evolution, where did a consciousness of morality arise? No one talks about immoral cows. Christianity is not about morality or ethics, but it is a relationship to a Person, Jesus Christ. Being good is not good enough.

1. You might not have to believe, but it helps.
2. I’ve never actually been, but my understanding is that the Port Authority Bus Terminal may actually be a hellmouth.

These ads represent well-within-the-box-atheist-group-think.

They are responding to an arguement that no one has made.

This is detailed here:
