The doctor who tried to save an Iranian protester as she bled to death on a street in Tehran has told the BBC of her final moments.
Dr Arash Hejazi, who is studying at a university in the south of England, said he ran to Neda Agha-Soltan's aid after seeing she had been shot in the chest.
Despite his attempts to stop the bleeding she died in less than a minute, he said.
Dr Hejazi says he posted the video of Ms Soltan's death on the internet and images of her have become a rallying point for Iranian opposition supporters around the world.
He also told how passers-by then seized an armed Basij militia volunteer who appeared to admit shooting Ms Soltan.
Dr Hejazi said he had not slept for three nights following the incident, but he wanted to speak out so that her death was not in vain.
He doubted that he would be able to return to Iran after talking openly about Ms Soltan's killing.

"I was there with some friends because we had heard that there were some protests and we decided to go and take a look," he said.
"Anti-riot police were coming by motorcycles towards the crowd."
Dr Hejazi said he saw Ms Soltan, who he did not know, with an older man who he thought was her father but later on learned was her music teacher.

I’m surprised that the people didn’t beat the living crap out of the shooter. They just took his ID card and let him go. They refused to respond in kind to this murderer.
There was a video where a knocked down thug was given water by the protestors... some of them haven’t dropped their gloves yet... although today there was a funeral for a couple of killed Baseejis.

So they have his ID card and some photos of him after he was apprehended by the crowd - plenty of evidence to refute the Iranian government's official claim that the shooter was a member of 'an opposition group'.

This man makes an interesting point. The bullet never exited through her back and the crowd caught the shooter. This seems to indicate it was a handgun round, not a sniper.
Watching the video of neda’s death is incredibly difficult. For his non-response, Barak Obama is a piece of crap. The only thing that comforts me is knowing that neda is in a better place. God Bless and keep her. Mankind has fallen so far. We are failed. Animals, whom are better than us, deserve to inherit this planet, and we deserve to be replaced. Yes, I know that there are good people too, but as a whole, mankind is absolutely evil.
This 19-min. video raises some questions.
He says she was a meter away from him, but he ran to her.
He says the bullet left no exit wound, but gives the impression she was shot at close range.
He’s a student in England, but doesn’t say why he went to Iran, how long he was there and why he left; it would be helpful to know these things about a man who is both a physician and a writer.
The article says he posted the video, suggesting he owns the camera used, but no indication who was operating it. In the first seconds of the posted video we’ve all seen, he looks deliberately at the person filming his actions.
He indicates there will be repercussions from Iranian authorities, now that he’s been identified, but he doesn’t say how he decided to come forward although he has family in Iran.
The interviewer mainly let him talk, and didn’t ask many questions.

BTW a handgun bullet fired from certain distance won't have to leave the body. Nothing unusual about that.

Either small caliber or a large caliber with a frangible bullet, like a Glaser Safety Slug.

As to the bullet, he speculates it exploded in her chest. It killed her in one minute. Close range, no exit wound. Impossible, no. Unusual? YMMV.
Maybe he should have been more careful so as not to raise eyebrows by saying a "slow trot" or a "fast walk" or "short sprint" or maybe even "a frenzied foxtrot".......His intent to convey what he experienced at a very chaotic time is very clear to me.
And your attempt to try to parse words and make him out to be a liar is very clear also.......

The heart is a very fragile organ......Many deer have been dropped dead on the spot by a shot to their heart........the deer heart is also located in the chest cavity.
