Prop 8 Ruling A Blow To All Minorities (ALL? How So, When 70% Of Blacks Voted For Prop 8?
Washington Post ^ | 5/26/09 | Joel P. Engardio

Posted on 05/26/2009 5:03:07 PM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

Religious supporters of Prop 8, the voter initiative that banned same sex marriage in California, might feel good now that the state's Supreme Court has ruled that the measure can stand.

...Prop 8 has made it a lot easier in California for a simple majority of voters to strip away the rights of an unpopular minority. What happens when it's your time to be the unpopular minority?

ALL minorities?

Didn't 70% of blacks vote yes on Prop 8? Didn't a majority of Hispanics vote yes on Prop 8? Yes on both counts.

It is a fact that prop 8 would not have passed without 70% of blacks voting yes on Prop 8, since most whites in California voted no on Prop 8.

Will the media call these blacks and Hispanics bigots or homophobes? No.

They will call Carrie Prejean or Hannity or Limbaugh that, but never them. Just a game that they and Democrats play.

By the way, this writer brings up the spectre of Mormons being discrminated against.

Is he ready to be in favor of polygamous marriage?

I mean, if we should redefine marriage so as to not discriminate against a minority (homosexuals) will liberals then state their support for redefining marriage to allow polygamous marriage for polygamists - another minority in the US?

Prop 8 Ruling A Blow To All Minorities

Unfortunate choice of words.

It’s a “blow” to perverts and deviants. Praise God.

FL’s passed with 62% of the vote and barely any advertising.

(actually the MSM blacked out any coverage)

It seems more an acknowledgment that homosexuality is a behavior not an immutible trait.

I think they are most upset that the majority of voters do not accept them as behaving “normally”.

Another central question:

If gays/libs/Dems are against the state supreme court in California upholding Prop 8, then why aren't they against SCOTUS’s past ruling against polygamous marriage?

Aren't they both minorities?

It would be hypocritical for them to be against the CA state supreme court ruling and not also be against SCOTUS’s past ruling against polygamists.

The liberal agenda would never be successful if they stopped finding “victims.”

Calling Joel Engardio..living in L.A., most of my family and friends range from Koreans, Filipinos, mexicans and Japanese. MOST of them, I assure you, and without any hesitation voted overwhelmingly for Obama. HOWEVER, they ALSO voted against PROP 8 because the culture in their home countries view homosexuality as far worse than Americans do.

No it is a blow to the sexually peculiar. We didn’t ask for this fight. It is they that are not happy with tolerance but want to push for gender variance in kindergartners and tilt anti-bullying not towards helping all children but to protect and encourage children to identify with and to flaunt others with in your face homosexuality. I went to school with kids that ended up identifying themselves as gay. One was killed (by the victim) because he was giving drugs and having sex with a minor and it turned ugly the other was molested by his uncle who was a flaming homosexual who was also an arsonist. I had lunch with him, he paid even and he confided to me that he had been very sick with a persistent lower intestinal infection. I don’t hate him. I care for him but he is trapped and he is sick not just physically and the message from the gay rights community isn’t that he get the help he needs instead it is to accept the desires forced on him by his uncle. How can anyone who cares about these people and knows that so many cite their first sexual experience as being with an older man when they were teenagers.

Instead these activists what to force onto society a fiction that will imprison anyone who wants to get out, get help, or help someone get out or get help.

Here is one of the many countless examples:

Claim: Priest’s molestation
‘bent’ me into homosexual

Over at Daily Kos, there is a blog today on how to repeal Prop 8:

Keep Black and Hispanic turnout low, and repeal Mormon money.

What!? They wanted lots of blacks to turnout for Obama, now they want to kick them to the curb.

If this doesn't show blacks that libs/Dems only want them for their vote, then nothing will.

An ‘unpopular minority’ want to kill and rape people.

A simple majority made it illegal for them to do so.

How unfair.

I assume you meant that they voted FOR Prop 8 rather than against, since Prop 8 stopped homosexual “marriages” in California.

It is certainly a blow to “minority voters” - i.e., the people who took the losing side and lost the election. Obama’s victory was a blow to the minority that supported McLame, but I didn’t see the Washington Post shed tears over that.
