As Barack Obama returns from Europe on Tuesday, he has in bright, bold strokes revealed his signature on the world stage: He is Obama the rationalist.
A diverse set of Obama decisions in recent days have a common theme: a leader who sees himself building a more orderly, humane world by vanquishing outdated thinking and corrupting ideology.
With a rapid series of major announcements and rhetorical gestures, the new president has done more than turn from Bush-era policies. He has shined a vivid light on his philosophical outlook on the world and how starkly he differs from his predecessor on basic beliefs about power, diplomacy and even human nature.

It has to do with rationalizing in order to avoid reality.
If people are buying it and it allows you to grab more power for your corrupt and inept Ci-cago machine, why stop?
Once all the sharp dealers in the world take him for a ride, he’ll still be smiling and posing. It will be difficult to restore any semblance of America’s world leadership of course, but why should he and all of the Rahm Emanuel’s care? They’ll get theirs, that’s what matters to them.

Wow-
This sounds like what the N. Korean, Iranian, Soviet, Cuban, Venezuelan, Ugandan etc. media says about their tin pot dictators.
Idi Amin’s official title: His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal, Al Hadji Doctor, Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular.

A president who believed his main job in the world was to robustly assert American interests and values, even if it offended allies, has been succeeded by one who believes his main job is to gently coax and nourish communities of interest in which other nations will regard the United States as a friend. What a crock of bulls#it. This numbnutz wants to gut the defense budget down to its lowest levels of GDP since the 30's. His Afghanistan policy is just a head fake until he can get his decimated defense budget codified for a generation..He's not so much naive, as he is an ideoligical hater of the notion of "nation states". What stinking sophistry!

leader who sees himself building a more orderly, humane world by vanquishing outdated thinking and corrupting ideology. Here we go again.
The writer is in love with a president who is going to totally eradicate backwardness and corruption.
Uh-huh.

"A diverse set of Obama decisions in recent days have a common theme:" LOL! "such symbolic acts as bowing before the House of Saud. It is naive to think otherwise. It is naive to think that American DVDs will play on British players. It is naive to search for the Austrian language equivalent of wheeling and dealing. It is naive to swallow the hype regarding AGW, or to believe that cap and trade can solve the imaginary dangers that CO2 emissions subject us tothough once again that is counterbalanced by cynicism regarding the ends. It is naive to believe that Hamas or Hizbullah are at all interested in a two-state solution. It is naive, albeit cynical, to believe that the government can direct automobile companies to produce automobiles that consumers will want to buy with the money that they wont have as a result of the government growth initiatives that he wants them to underwrite. And as others on the right side of the blogosphere have been pointing out with regard to Obamas Capitulation Tour, his view of American history and the role of America in the world is exactly what you would expect from a red-diaper baby (You may say Im a dreamer!). Everywhere Obama goes, he apologizes in his uniquely arrogant way for the presumed prior arrogance of the US, as he imagines it. But when Obama refers to the US, he does not mean himself, and he does not mean the US citizens who believe as he does. He isnt apologizing for his country, hes apologizing for those in his country who believe differently from him. Obama himself is never to blame for anything, foreign or domestic. http://proteinwisdom.com/pub/?p=2741
