Not to mention he's the guy who oversaw Citi's nosedive.

I think they're content to dump Geithner -- this story originated with 0's most favored sources (the majors) who ran with it too zealously, instead of trying to bury it.

I admit Rush has me convinced that the media is in the tank for this guy, but it seems not entirely.

I'm withholding complete conviction that he's just another Democrat Thug.

“Yes,” one source answered. “He was getting the money. He was being paid a tax allowance to pay him for tax payments that he should have made but had not.”

Gee, I don't remember getting paid a "tax allowance" in addition to my salary. I guess I should have been working for the IMF.

I'm more troubled that just “some Republicans” are questioning this....the rest that aren’t must want to continue to lose like the RINOs they are....

This isn’t a problem.

We have an illegal alien as President so of course everyone else is corrupt.

God has turned his back on our once great nation.

Long live our dear leader.

end truth.

Obama said it was an “honest mistake”. He’s a democrat so it’s OK.

So the IMF gave him a separate check specifically for the purpose of paying these FICA taxes and he took it and put it in his pocket and didn't pay the taxes.

That sounds criminal to me.

But then I'm just a country lawyer.

This sure reminds me of the Clinton administration. Hmmm, wonder why? Could it be that the Clinton’s taught nouveau politicians how to work the system?

How many “Honest Mistakes” does this guy get before people start wondering if he’s a crook?

I’ve never worked for a place that wouldn’t have fired me for much less. I’ve never made enough to afford an illegal alien housekeeper either, but that’s not the point.

Move on. Nothing here.

The Messiah says that his tax man is just what we need.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Treasury Secretary nominee Timothy Geithner made “honest mistakes” on a tax issue and the employment of a housekeeper but they should not disqualify him from serving as at the top U.S. economic official, a senior aide to President-elect Barack Obama said on Tuesday.

Why does this NOT surprise me???

All revolutions seek to destroy the elite. Why do they think they are exempt?

I’ve already called my Senator about this and said no on Geithner to him. I encourage everyone to call their Senators
(senate.gov, click on Senators).

But this was even before I learned that Geithner accepted reimbursement for taxes from the IMF, and he didn’t even pay that!

So for 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 he did not pay say $ 35,000(I don’t know what the amount was without interest), then he pocketed the tax allowance of $ 35,000 paid to him by the IMF.

Net gain $ 70,000 in his pocket.

Innocent mistake? Hiccup?

Sure, the IRS would own our home if you or I did this.

And this is the man who will oversee WITHOUT OVERSIGHT the TARP program.

Make the call tomorrow,it’s only your money.

Heck Senator Ensign was appologying for him this afternoon...

It's bad enough we are supposed to believe the guy who is supposed to run the IRS claimed he didn't know he had to pay self-employment taxes, but to get paid to pay the FICA taxes and place the money in his bank account???????? have they really dumbed down our school system that far that most American's cannot figure out the guy is either a crook or too stupid to run Treasury.

I am outraged at the way this is being handled by the MSM...including FNC, by the way.

This guy is supposed to be an intelligent, financially savvy professional. He was employed by the IMF and was accorded their routine indoctrination and training regarding their somewhat unique tax situation. He was told that he was responsible for those taxes. The IMF even had a gross-up program to make it possible for these folks to pay those taxes.

As far as I am concerned, he is a crooked SOB who took the money, and knowingly avoided paying the taxes. The fact that he paid up once the light of truth was shining on him makes it all the more putrid, IMO.

And, now the MSM is suggesting that due to our complex tax regulations, this was an oversight that should be forgiven.

Bull Puckey! If this guy were a conservative, the DhimmiRats would calling for his hide. The LibTards would be frothing at the mouth and seeking his blood.

And, as long as the conservatives choose to ignore this, they deserve their second class status...

It’s time to DEMAND integrity and honesty from our public officials, those elected AND those appointed.

It’s time to refresh the tree of Liberty...

Geithner is an incompetent crook and a failure as a businessman. He should fit right in, just like all the other suppositories in that job.
