In Alpha Flight #106, published in 1992, the superhero known as Northstar uttered the words “I am gay”. The event generated some publicity in the mainstream press and Alpha Flight #106 sold out in a week, despite the fact that the series was not a very popular title.

Many 70s/80s rock bands are also all queer.

I have heard that the character’s hideout is under a bathhouse and that he infects the bad guys with an exceptionally virulent strain of HIV and that he pounds them so hard in the rear end that they can no longer walk or sit down for long periods of time.

This was already done. Northstar from “Alpha Flight” and some goofy character called Estrano from a comic I can’t even remember the title of (which contained many other politically correct characters).
