It happens in both the parties but this is a seat being vacated by the “Chosen One”. Even on Sunday, meet the press, he informed that “He is very much involved in IL senate replacement and not worried about NY senate seat”. People need to know, what was his connection in the whole deal.

Will he be tried as an adult?

He doesn’t look old enough to have had a driver’s license for more than a year.

Chicago talk radio is talking non-stop about this “outrage.” What a joke. IMO, this is business as usual in Illinois politics. Mike Madigan wants his daughter, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, to be the next governor. Now he won’t have to wait. There are already cries for impeachment. Illinois is run by a few families who can enrich themselves and their friends. Blago was on the opposite side this time, but what he has done if he was trying to put out bids for Obama’s Senate seat is “business as usual.” The opposition got the tape regarding the Senate appointment and they moved on it immediately. Sends a message to others that if you don’t play the game, the Feds will come and take you away too. The news media must be in on it. They don’t know the meaning of “investigative journalism.” If they did, there would be stories like this every day. This is what you get with one party rule. This is the “change” coming to Washington via the Illinois Democrat Party, IMO.

*** Doesn't Illinois have laws against bribery and such? ***

Yes we do.
In other articles it says the Cook County States Attorney also have investigations into Blago and his cronies for corruption.

**** What gives the Federal Government the right to interfere in this matter? ****

Federal Laws were broke.

Plus, if Blago was tried on State charges in Cook County the Judge would be someone who owes his job to: the Democrat party, the Daley Machine, and/or 'The Combine', or even Blago's Father-In-Law (Dick Mell). That means even if Blago was found guilty by a jury, the Judge could set aside the verdict. Or... Blago could ask for a Bench Trial then the fix would REALLY be in with a rat controlled, corrupt, Judge.

But Obama working on a “non-profit” was an act of charitable kindness, right?

Selfless pulic service it was. And his sainted wife's quarter-million a year sinecure at the hospital as well.

So are you one of those folks who thinks the Federales can pass laws about anything the want to pass laws about?

Most states don't have a political organization with half the shamelessness as the Chicago democrats. The feds were shining a flashlight up Rod's butt for years, but he just carried on as if nothing was the matter.

Heck no.
And IMO most federal laws that are passed now and that have been passed in recent history are Unconstitutional. They try to tie them back to the Commerce Clause (like they did with Gay Hate Crime Laws).

But there's certain areas where the Feds do have lawful, constitutional, jurisdiction. Blago's 'alleged' crimes fit that.

Really?

What part of the Constitution do you think authorizes the Federales to have any role? Maybe some States might think that bribery rather than pull should be the preferred way of deciding how to fill vacated seats? I would see no Constitutional problem with that, but apparently you would.

I believe that the timing of this arrest was accelerated by Fitz because he had reason to believe that Zero was indeed about to put together a nice little offer to Blago for “naming rights” to his old Senate seat.

Although generally true, your point is incorrect in this case. The Wall Street Journal has no love for democrats, nor for corrupt republicans, either. They call a spade a spade. Here are the first four paragraphs of the story:

Throwing a harsh spotlight on a city that has been celebrating the election of Barack Obama to the White House, federal agents on Tuesday arrested Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich and a senior aide on broad corruption charges, including allegations they tried to sell Mr. Obama's Senate seat.

Mr. Blagojevich, a 51-year-old Democrat, and chief of staff John Harris, 46, are each charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery.

Unveiling the federal indictment at a press conference, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said, "This is a sad day for Illinois government. Mr. Blagojevich has taken us to a new low."

Mr. Blagojevich, elected in 2002 as a reformer in the wake of the scandal-plagued administration of George Ryan, has been the subject of a years-long federal probe and has become among the least popular governors in the nation after a series of policy missteps and allegations of pay-to-play politics. Talk of impeaching the governor has circulated in Springfield.

They mentioned Ryan in the fourth paragraph, but identified him as a republican in the fifteenth paragraph of a seventeen paragraph story. This is a cheap trick used by left wing writers who want to distance themselves when one of thier own gets caught. If you check the Incomplete List of Democrat Criminals on my profile, I assure you that I had to read pages of news articles about each person to determine if he was a democrat. I often had to track through articles about the original campaigns or civic awards to prove party affiliation because the articles never mentioned that the indicted / convicted criminal was a democrat.

It would be nice if the Journal hadn't done this, but then again, the dems have it coming. At least somebody is using some basic propaganda techniques for our side.

Incidentally, if U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald thinks Blagojevich is a new low, someone needs to teach him about Ted Kennedy.

With all due respect I don't have the time to get into a long discussion about the Constitution, Federal Laws and its Jurisdiction.

Have a nice day.

Cut the cr@p.

You made a stupid statement and I called you on it. Then all of a sudden you no longer have time to discuss it.

Why don't you when you come back to FR (next week when you have time maybe?) let me know what part of the Constitution you think gives the Federales ANY possible role in this internal State matter. Some of us here do still care about the Constitution.
