My opinion exactly. What did the governor do wrong? Is this the way things are done in Illinois? Especially in Chicago?
That's what the Dim Sheeple are saying..................
But yeah, okay, whatever you say, the feds have no authority to pass or enforce any laws, fine, if that floats your boat, go for it.
So see ya, have to rearrange my sock drawer.
Article I
Section 8. The Congress shall have power to . . .
To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.
They're actually obligated to do it. Graft is not a republican forms of government.

Graft is almost a time-honored tradition amongst our republican forms of government. That clause had nothing to do with graft and corruption as evidenced by the fact that for 200 years or so it was left to the States try to eliminate it, or not. (Think Tammany Hall!)
The "elastic clause" which you quote confers no general area of authority not granted elsewhere.
It's pretty obvious that the Framers considered bribery of the President (in the impeachment clause) and they could have considered bribery of State officials if they wanted to, but they did not.

I’m not aware of the “Graft is a time honored tradition” clause of the US Constitution. I can’t see how the guarantee of a republican form of government could mean anything unless the fed was empowered to do something about it. Invade? I suppose they could do that, but it would make a mess. Anyway, the fact that there have been corrupt governments in this country for years in no way legitimizes them. And the fact that the fed let the states and territories run roughshod over their citizens in the past does not justify continuing it in the future.
This is one of the relatively few times I see the federal government not overstepping its bounds.
Flash—Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan (and next governor of Illinois) just announced on the radio that if Blago doesn’t resign and the legislature doesn’t do anything, SHE will. There is a Rule 382 whereby she can file suit with the Supreme Court of Illinois to remove Blago from office. She was “shocked”, “outraged”, etc. by what Blago has been accused of doing. Business as usual in Illinois....Also, the legislature has been called into a special session on Monday, probably to address this issue. The Dems will want to move quickly on this, lest some Republican somewhere could appear as a gubernatorial candidate. IMO, if Obama is involved in this in any way, there will be no evidence of it. It is internal infighting among state Dems, IMO.
You're going W - A - Y back in Chicago politics to get to somebody who is not a fellow traveler at best.
We'll know if they did if they find him hanging in his cell. This guy has 2 choices: Keep quiet and take the fall for everything, or keep permanently quiet.
The article is hilarious. They asked everybody and nobody knows nothin. Not Obama, not Children’s Memorial, not the Chicago Tribune, not the guy on the other end of the phone.
“Nobody told me nothin and I don’t know nothin.”
I know city workers that have been practicing that phrase for decades.
Chicago hasn’t changed a bit.
