Newsweek trashes the Bible in support of homosexual marriage

Donald E. Wildmon Founder and Chairman American Family Association

December 8, 2008

Newsweek magazine has published a lengthy article (http://www.newsweek.com/id/172653) stating that the Bible supports homosexual marriage. The article was written by Lisa Miller, Newsweek religion editor.

Miller's article is one of the most biased and distorted pieces concerning homosexual marriage ever published by any major news organization. The article is much too long for this e-mail.

Dr. Albert Mohler has offered a response to the Newsweek article. I suggest you read Mohler’s article (http://www.albertmohler.com/blog_read.php?id=2881) and then read Miller's Newsweek article.

Mohler made a significant point in his response: "The national news media are collectively embarrassed by the passage of Proposition 8 in California. Gay rights activists are publicly calling on the mainstream media to offer support for gay marriage, arguing that the media let them down in November. It appears that Newsweek intends to do its part to press for same-sex marriage. Many observers believe that the main obstacle to this agenda is a resolute opposition grounded in Christian conviction. Newsweek clearly intends to reduce that opposition."

Take Action! Send an e-mail to Newsweek telling Newsweek you are disappointed with its distorted interpretation of scripture. Forward this e-mail to your friends and family. They need to see how the media distorts scripture to support same-sex marriage. Ask them to send an e-mail to Newsweek:

If a person is dishonest, in this case really dishonest, they can say the Bible justifies just about anything. I am no expert on the Bible but it clearly condemns homosexuality and in very strong terms. There is no other proper way to read it.

I canceled by subscription to Newsweek several years ago because they are anti-American left wing scum who lie on a daily basis and help kill Americans.

One should boycott any company that advertises in this left wing anti-American piece of scum.

Lisa Miller has a history of pulling this crap. The nicest thing you could say about her understanding of religion is that she’s incompetent.

I wonder what scripture they think they referenced to defend sodomy.

The article was written by Lisa Miller, whose bona fides are that she was the “Society Editor” prior to being named the religion editor. The MSM will expect us to equate her opinion, probably based upon thumbing through an old copy of a Gideon's Bible in a hotel room, with dissenting opinions of the elite Christian theologians of all time.

It looks to me like Lisa Miller is contributing to the demise of Newsweek, like the Chicago Tribune and New York Times. Do you not agree?

Time Magazine declared God dead ~45 years ago.

Aparently Newsweak is resurrecting God and writing a new Bible for Him.

The biblical ideal is monogamy. But polygamy was common in the ancient world and patriarchs and kings of Israel married several wives. Yet the ideal was never renounced.

Long after Newsweek is in the ash heap of history, the Bible will still be the most widely read book in the world.

She didn’t cite any scriptures at all. She quoted one verse dealing with love between Jonathon and David and thats about it. The rest was subjective interpretation.

LOL

Looks like they think David and Nathan had a tryst. The writer has clearly missed the entire Biblical message.

It’s the Christmas season. It’s their duty to bash christian beliefs every Christmas and every Easter.

I doubt she has ever even cracked the cover. She doesn't have to. There are an abundance of homosexual apologists who have perverted the scriptures in many and juvenile ways, to support the idea, pirmarilly, that because the Bible doesn't specifically forbid homosexual marriage, that it is OK by God. I know that is diseased thinking, but those who advance it are diseased people.
