AUGUSTA - U.S. Rep. Paul Broun attacked president-elect Barack Obama's agenda as "Marxist" and derided fellow Republicans for abandoning conservative principles Friday during his first speech since he was re-elected in Georgia's 10th Congressional District.
"In my opinion, we've elected a Marxist to be president of the United States," Broun, R-Athens, said during a luncheon of the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club at the Doubletree Hotel.
The remark prompted Rotarian Lucinda Williams to defend Obama and question the intelligence of U.S. Sen. John McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Broun qualified his remark, saying he believes Obama's policies of bigger government and shared wealth are Marxist.
"When Barack Obama is right, then I'll support him," Broun said. "When he is wrong, I'll fight him."
Broun also criticized McCain.
"I'm very disappointed with the McCain campaign," he said. "In my opinion, it was inept."
Broun believes McCain failed adequately to differentiate himself from President Bush and failed to embrace conservative values, he said. He referred to McCain as a milquetoast Republican.
Broun also expressed disappointment at Obama and McCain's support of the $700 billion Wall Street bailout bill, which he voted against twice.
Duh what the heck took them so long to figure this out? I knew after I did a little research! He is a Marxist!
Don’t tell anybody but “I suspect” that the Pope is Catholic.
It looks like we are going to spemd the next four years wandering in the Marxist wilderness. I hope there are some REAL conservatives left at the end of the Obama reign.
I knew that! I think?
Any chance we can draft Broun for POTUS in 2012?
[if we’re still alive, that is]
BTTT
Obviously the MSM is gonna go after this guy. We gotta be ready!
But you must *never* tell anyone!
;-D
Yes “the one” is a Marxist.
Can you count the red infiltration on the FR since the election?
All should know this guy is on fire in Georgia. First elected by preaching fire and brimstone Conservative politics in 2006, he earned 100 from The ACU.
Keep your eye on him.
Hopefully the Arkacide's won't be replaced with Bamacide's.
What do you mean?
Yep, that is the opinion of everyone we discussed McCain's campaign with. He would have fared far worse if he had not picked Sarah Palin. She carried his water daily.
Great pic!
Bingo!!
“Broun believes McCain failed adequately to differentiate himself from President Bush “
Correction:
McCain failed adequately to differentiate himself from Comrade Obambi.
“and failed to embrace conservative values”
*******
Because McCain has never been a conservative.
Refusing to see, or just ignoring the 'M' word may well have cost America it's future. And perhaps thats 'why' we are here. (Wrote Fox News, often. . .asking that they just 'say the word'; name the name; in the interest of 'fair and balanced'.
Would not have mattered as much with 'youth vote' - they seem to have no educational point of reference. Might have made a big difference with those neighbors 'down the street' - across America. . .
WHATever. . .it is the truth; and nothing worse than 'too late smart'. . .
Am sure Broun and perhaps the rest of his family will pay for this; once Obama is ensconced and his people have full ‘FBI’ access/info. . .
If only the ‘R’ had been bigger. . .and his eyesight better, for seeing the ‘enemy on our homefront’. . .
I hope not.
The guy has guts, galore.
