That's a bit too much. Liberal socialism works more like they take your money and let you have a little back if you follow their orders. Maryland just imposed it 2007-2008. After promising to lower electric prices dem governor cut deals to raise them even higher with our taxes, but we can get a few bucks back if the company controls our thermostat by radio. Now if you don't let them take your money, then it's the ‘Killing Fields’ , but otherwise they believe in an illusion of the vote and capitalism to keep us from all quiting.

I think these guys are more attracted to European type socialism, the peasant style marxism from China and Cambiodia is not very realistic for USA given mass communication and freedom (and supreme court). I will agree with you that public schools do not, and should teach kids about Cambodia in 1970s, when Jimmy Carter was president, and never said a word in protest. It shows how much his passive resistance will get YOU.

If a child spends 7 to 8 hours a day in a public school you lose them to the government and it's failed politically correct, globally warmed, pro-abortion/pre-marital sexed and socialistic world views. Homeschool or find an excellent conservative private school. Once a great majority remove their children from these social cesspools, money will talk and the loss of tax revenue will get the attention of the teacher's unions. Maybe then they'll start listening to parents again and start teaching reading, writing and arithmetic and get away from the brainwashing and reform might be possible.

While SOME government school teachers retain enough of their brains to grasp the socialist indoctrination embodied in the centrally written lesson plans they'd better follow if they want to keep their jobs, THE NEA -- actually the NIA -- and the other teacher unions are WHY OBAMA will be our new Furher -- er -- president.

Excellent advice.

I personally think that the government should get out of the education business. “Public education” is one of those things that seems like a good idea and works well for a time or in a few places, but it eventually deteriorates.
