Poll conducted by students at Northwestern University (sorry it is a vanity post)

Posted on 10/19/2008 2:14:35 PM PDT by Illinois Rep

My nephew is a Junior at Northwestern University up by Chicago. His Poli-Sci classmates did a telephone survey of random phone numbers of the City of Chicago...Suburbs of Chicago and parts of Indiana.

What they found was in the City of Chicago Obama lead 54%-36% In the Suburbs McCain lead Obama 54%-40% and overall in Illinois Obama lead 40%-37% with a HUGE undecided amount...

In Indiana McCain lead Obama 46%-39% with a huge undecided.

The Illinois poll used 609 voters over a 3 day period (Oct 15-17) The Indiana poll used 417 voters over the same period.

They asked an open ended question "What concerns you most about the election on November 4th"...the number one response was "America is changing too much--America turning into socialism...fear we change too much..." etc...

Ironic thing is they did this because they didn't trust what their professor was telling them about polls and how this election is over and voting for McCain is like throwing your vote away.

Did they call any graveyards? If not, it’s not a representative sample.

“with a HUGE undecided amount”

The big polls also undercount independents. Which way they will break, who knows

But I think Obama is maddening many by having his tv ads encroach during NFL games. Some things should be free from politics!

I forgot to add...look how close the results are in ILLINOIS!! We see NO yard signs for either candidate in Illinois....I suspect those supporting McCain don’t want their property vandalized.

I asked my nephew if this was raw data or if they used a likely voter type rating...and over-weight Democrats. He said the raw data was very heavy on the McCain side...and way more independents than the national polls say there are. So they weighted it heavily on the Democrats...then Independent(which my Nephew is) and lastly Republican....Those kids at Northwestern think Obama is in for one of the biggest upsets ever.

The hope is alive that we might win in November! Defeat Barack Hussein Obama. He is not one of us. He is a socialist.

“and way more independents than the national polls say there are.”

I just mentioned that too within seconds! I’m glad more are seeing that. Even polls like Rassmussen are underweighting non-Republicrats.

Sounds about right. Obama is in deep sh!t in the burbs and in the country. He is just too far left, too distant, and too fake.

Yes, fake. Oh yeah, he loves this country. Except when he doesn’t, which seems to be often. Oh yeah, he’s a regular churchgoer. Oh yeah, he doesn’t want to get rid of the 2nd amendment. This guy is exceptionally fake and America knows it.

This feels like Eisenhower v Stevenson. McCain is about the same type of Republican as Ike. Of course, not as popular. But still, it’s the guy who you know is his own man and who loves this country. Then you have the left wing nerd from Illinois (and as much as the Obama campaign would like to draw parallels with Lincoln, it’s Stevenson to whom Obama is much closer). Hell, even Rendell made the obvious call that Obama was like Stevenson.

There’s a time and place for nerds. The last nerd president to win, IMO, was Jimmah Carter and he won under extraordinary circumstances.

Obama joins a long list of Democrat nerds who have come before him. Kerry, Gore, Dukakis, Mondale, Carter, McGovern, Humphrey, and Stevenson. How many winners do we see in that group?

Do you know if they included Gary in their Indiana poll? They polled 30% rural numbers and 70% city numbers with an emphasis on Indianapolis, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Gary, Evansville. This class is heavy on the statistics of polling public opinion...and they have at their luxury software that gives them random phone numbers for areas they input...they have to put in the input of "rural" or "city" and then what percent they want from each area.... That's about all I know about the details.

God Bless those young folks for not believing their obviously socialistic professor! Great that they did their own research!

I know that college age young folks have a great positive feeling about fairness. Please tell your nephew to ask all his college friends who are Obama supporters to look at the three short videos below. Have your nephew ask them what they think about the way the Hillary supporters were treated by the Obama campaign. It might just make some realize the true character of Obama and his ties to the ACORN voter fraud!

I have seen a bunch of McCain/Palin signs go up recently in the O’Fallon area. Unfortunately, St. Clair County will go to the “one” due to Belleville and East St. Louis.

I just had to change the channel because of an Obama ad during the Jets Raiders game. The last thing I want to see on football Sunday is a political ad where big ears Berry bashes John Mccain.

My nephew said the professor is unaware they conducted this poll. They are holding it until after the election and seeing if it resembles the actual vote in Illinois and Indiana...if it does they are going to present the data to him and challenge the motives of polling companies.

I told him to be careful he doesn’t want to fail the class or get kicked out of the university...

In towns like Hinsdale, Naperville, Downers Grove, Lisle and other towns south of Chicago, I've seen McCain/Palin signs outnumber Obama signs 20 to 1 or even better!

These are towns where people DO make over $250,000.00 and these people are targets of Obama's new tax!

In my town, many Dems are putting signs out for the lower office dems, but not for Obama & I've had Dems tell me NO WAY will they vote for him!

Now, discounting the dead that Daley will have voting, Obama could be in trouble in Illinois, but never fear Daley always comes thru!
