God love you Joe. Bless your heart Joe. You, and people like you, are what makes the country work. You make the country great. You get it -- you act on it -- and you enrich the lives of your family and your friends and your communities and your charities as a result.
But I think what I should say now is "God help you Joe." Look, 16 plus years ago I was where you are now. And I must tell you if Obama wins, I am pulling the plug in a few months. I am out. I have had it. I am preparing to destroy almost 100 jobs and lower my tax bracket and I can't wait.
Consider: 16 years ago I was statistically in poverty, but I had dreams and a plan. At the time, the remnants of Reaganomics still set the economic tone and a fired up Newt Gingrich was forcing conservatism on the Clinton White House every time Bill and Hillary tried to move left. There were actually politicians who praised business owners and business in general. Against that backdrop, I've had a pretty good run. It's been extremely challenging and the move up was not a straight line, but I am better off than I was 16 years ago. And 8 years ago. And 4 years ago. And so are a lot of folks who have been on this ride with me.
But Joe, I am not better off than I was just 2 years ago. That's when decades of liberal energy policy came home to roost and four dollar gas took several hundred thousands from my bottom line faster than I could possibly react.

Who is John Galt?
:-)
I’ve heard that some have a plan to move a sizable portion of their business offshore. Especially internet based businesses.
PALIN/Plumber ‘12
If we still have elections then!!
I run a small business that has done pretty well over the years - we currently employ 5 others. I was about to hire two more people (the workstations are going in as I write this) and offer them the same benefits and wages the others are getting. I will not do so now. I will look for two part-time office support people, trim inventory and scale back my operations. I also advise you, in the event that That One gets into office, if you are not a C Corp., to file immediately. If you have any expansion plans or are doing business that could increase your tax liability, give some careful thought about any exit strategies you might have in place now...if That One gets into office, you will need to look hard at what he will try to take from you.
I will voluntarily scale this company back so I do not have to work until August each year to pay That One’s taxes.
You damned right we would!
Obama and Biden view the working class as idiots who couldn’t possibly improve their lot in life without the government’s help. Again, Democrats are amazed when they find out that the working and middle classes think they will be better off one day, and don’t want taxes too high. Obama the rookie made a fantastically stupid and unforced error on the campaign trail. Denigrating Joe the Plumber will only compound that mistake.
I thought that “Bless your heart” was an insult...these Suthernisms are confusing...
Who is Samuel Wurzelbacher...
just doesn’t have the same ring.
Will “Palin/Wurzelbacher” fit on a sticker?
LOL - you’re right.
I recently I gave my copy of Atlas Shrugged to a friend’s 20 year old son. He’s a fairly sharp kid but hadn’t read it.
I am hapy to say he loved it. He commented that people shouldn’t be allowed to vote until they read it - haha!
Does anybody remember a fellow named Richard Jewell?
Richard Jewell, the Olympic security guard who first discovered a pipebomb minutes before it exploded at the 1996 games in Atlanta, held a press conference in October that year to talk about the how the FBI and the media had made his life “a nightmare.”
Rather than think that Mr. Jewell was some sort of “hero”, the FBI was directed to treat him as a “suspect”. If memory serves, there was a culture of going after the whistleblower back then, just as there has been a similar culture in this campaign of The One.
Now “Joe the Plumber” is getting comparable treatment, and for no more than asking a question that wasn’t on the script.
Has the Obama campaign no shame?
**Will Palin/Wurzelbacher fit on a sticker?**
Hope you kept your SUV ... will need a bumper that big for it to fit!!
I am close but on a smaller scale. If McCain wins then I will expand. If Obama wins then I will not. I am waiting for election day before I do anything.
Donate & volunteer to McCain-Palin 2008.
Shouldn't you wait until someone is at least 25 to ruin their life?
Ditto.
Further, it is also said with perfect sincerity, wanting to bless someone who's having it tough.
It's all in the context or tone, babe.
My plan is in the works and regardless of who wins, I'm going to be sure to keep my net federal tax burden to as close to zero as possible. There is no reason to reach for the brass ring if some moocher is only going to snatch it away at the last minute.
Do you mean, would Atlas Shrug? Atlas, who has carried the weight of the world on his shoulders for, lo, these many years will do just what the man in the article is doing. Productive people get exhausted providing the feeding tit for a bunch of career system gamers (frequently politicians) and welfare parasites who raise new generations and train them by example to be welfare parasites and drug dealers. No one is opposed to caring for those who are honestly helpless, but “spreading the wealth around” has been the bad idea of the Democrat Party for many decades in order to keep blocs of downtrodden (by the Democrats, that is) people automatically voting Democrat no matter how corrupt and vile the Democrats get.
. . Oh, and I forgot to add that many times, Atlas is disrespected, hated, and treated like dirt by these same dregs of society that he is in some cases feeding, housing, clothing and providing medical care.
I don’t follow you?
I was going to be offered a job at a small business, and they decided not to fill the position until after the economy settles down. My friend works at a small business and it’s closing in December because the owner decided to retire and throw in the towel. These are established businesses 15-20 years old.
As the saying goes - you put 95 people sitting in the wagon with only 5 people pulling it...and it’s not going to be very long until the 5 people either get in the wagon or else leave.
And that is just your experience in your circle. Multiply by several million.
It’s going to kill our economy if that one gets in.
There's an old joke that reading Atlas Shrugged ruins your life. It's a necessary by product of reality.
Oh - I hadn’t heard that before. Makes sense though! :-)
The radical left doesn’t care about prosperity. Their model is Zimbabwe, all they care about is equality even if we all starve
