Going very much against the media meme that the current financial crisis is all George W. Bush and the Republicans' fault, Bill Clinton on Thursday told ABC's Chris Cuomo that Democrats for years have been "resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac" (video available here, relevant section at 2:45).

It means Clinton thinks the MSM firewall is probably not going to hold and that the political winds are shifting - that the public may be wising up to the ongoing rape for many years of our mortgage system and economy by the politicians. He is trying to find a way to spin it so as to do the least damage to himself, probably pointing only at Fannie and Freddie and trying to distance himself from them.

Had the same thought. Slick is protecting his/Hillarys hide on this one. Don’t forget she received some donations from these institutions and Lehman herself.

I don’t doubt that the clinton’s are actively working against obama. But for all those folks who think I’m nuts, statements like his helps to depress democrat turnout. so thank you bill clinton. I can’t believe I said that.
